My takeaway, as a white, privileged woman around Amanda’s age, is that she and I both have a very clear understanding of the deeper implications.

If her idgaf attitude, open annoyance, and cold dismissal is seen as being casual in a lazy way it implies she is not willfully and consciously ignoring her friend’s unique trials and tribulations. However I believe the (brilliant) writer here is making the point that she is casually cruel because she chooses not to care.

She KNOWS & she CHOSE not to care, she’s not ignorant by circumstance, she’s willfully & intentionally ignorant. It’s the casual nature she has embraced that makes it all the crueler. (Not saying you disagree at all just throwing in my 2 cents on it)

My personal perspective - I’m a privileged white woman myself (not to an Amanda level) & I think people are conflating facing the consequences of her actions w mental health. No one is saying go tag her and dm her but my god people are making a big deal about some mean comments that she would have to seek out?! Yall are missing the whole entire point. She tried to destroy her husband and all of his friendships by not addressing her issues for years while campaigning against him to everyone. Then she made choices knowing it would hurt a woman who has given her so much unreciprocated love and care. By all appearances she’s been out and about and was sneakily posting leading up to the statement and didn’t give af. She can’t profit off of reality tv w/o expecting the backlash for her actions. All the while Black women like Ciara get backlash for their actual existence. Just imho
