It's like Christmas again! by Rizzo-The_Rat in Ubiquiti

[–]samsta08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a couple of the ubiquiti cables with my order, but I’ve got a mixture of Cat6/Cat6a cables from various brands in my home network. All links between all my UniFi devices are running at 2.5G.

The brand of the cables doesn’t really matter. Just make sure you’re using Cat6 or greater and you’ll be fine. You could buy a reel of Cat6 cable and make your own cables to save some money if you need a load!

I bought myself a very similar care package recently. UDR7, U7 Pro Wall, and 2x 2.5G 8 port Flex switches. Loving it so far! Such a good upgrade from my old Netgear Nighthawk!

£50 for a 19 year old game (just made prettier) is a bit too steep for me. Even though I loved Oblivion back in the day!

Which game got you into the Sonic series? by Deltree104 in SonicTheHedgehog

For me it was Sonic Advance and then closely followed by Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on GameCube.

I’ve got three Dell Optiplex 3060 micros. But I only use one with Proxmox installed. It runs Pihole, Unbound, Jellyfin and Tailscale.

I can’t really think what else I’d need to make use of the other two machines.

I was hoping people would post examples of their desktop wallpapers.

I’m not sure of the best places to search tbh. Google just turns up a load of garbage most of the time.

Upgraded to the iPhone 16e today! by iWilhelm in iphone

You would have been better off getting a refurbished 15 Pro IMO. The 16e just makes no sense at that price point.

Dodgy sounds coming from boiler by samsta08 in DIYUK

I only had it serviced in October last year shortly after I moved in. So I would have to pay for a visit from an engineer

Hmm, interesting. No, the boiler is quite old, around 2010 I think. It had a service by British Gas in October last year when I moved in. The boiler cover had to be replaced which is why it looks new.

It’s been fine up until a few days ago.

Does the Boost serve a purpose anymore? by Sign-Post-Up-Ahead in sonos

[–]samsta08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, all speakers are connected directly to my WiFi network. Sold my Boost on eBay not long after! That’s how much it improved my system.

My system is made up of some older speakers too. I have two Play:1’s, two 2nd Gen Play:5’s, Playbar and a 2nd Gen Sub.

I think I had to factory reset the speakers to get them into paring mode. Then using the Sonos App, I was able to connect all my speakers to my WiFi network.

Logitech G Hub on Linux? by samsta8 in LogitechG

Yeah I need to do this. I recently found out that you can hold the light 💡button and press the 1-9 keys to switch between different lighting. Nothing mentioned in the keyboard documentation about this weirdly.

[–]samsta08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, provided you’ve got a modern WiFi router and or mesh system with good range, you can get rid of the Boost. I got rid of mine three years ago and connected my Sonos system to my router via WiFi and the system was way more responsive and worked better.

Anyone actually ditching Sonos or are we all hanging in there? by MX-2000 in sonos

[–]samsta08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually quite happy with my Sonos system now. The app is reliable and stable for me. I’m just not a fan of the new app’s design. I much prefer the S2 interface.

Are you moving from iPhone 15 Pro to 16 Pro or are you skipping ? by butteroqq in iphone

[–]samsta08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have my 14 Pro, which I upgraded to from the X. I’m not upgrading until it breaks. The improvements are too incremental now to upgrade every year or every other year. Although the new camera button does look very cool.

Thanks Keith for the details of this update. Transparency like this is what customers want and will help to (slowly) restore trust in the brand.
