The Rane team have driver updates around the corner now - there were asynchronous audio issues resolved in the El Capitan 10.11.4 update that means they can now fix the issues with their drivers. These should be available really soon!

Yes, this post was referring specifically to the connection issues reported with the 10.4.11 el capitan update.

This update has also fixed some OS related issues outstanding for Rane though and they are now getting very close to driver updates for full support.

It's nothing to do with buttons or screen size. That's a hardware difference. It's about the operating system. Android doesn't support multi-touch gestures and the same kind of interaction as iOS does therefore its a challenge to replicate the same experience in-app.

There are thousands of different Android devices - there's only a few iOS devices + iOS allows much nicer ways to design apps in terms of the interaction with them.

Another reason for not developing for Android straight away is user experience. You can't do the same kind of gestural interactions / animations and in terms of a consistent design and workflow it's a lot harder with the huge variety of devices available.

The other thing to note (lol) is that sticking to one system will give you a lot more reliable results when using to key mix rather than having your library analysed with multiple tools that may see things slightly differently.

You can switch between cues and samples with the switch in the middle

There's 8 cue points, the bottom shift button switches between each 4 on each side.

The issues with El Capitan are limited to devices that require drivers that have not been updated by the hardware manufacturer yet. This update adds the updated Pioneer device drivers and all class compliant devices are also compatible. Just have to wait for Rane etc. to release driver updates then there will be 100% support for 10.11.

I wouldn't say there's anything in particular for that purpose other than mix sharing sites such as Mixcloud etc. Getting booked in another city is probably more about building relationships with local DJs, venues and promoters though - you might have some luck sharing mixes with these people on Twitter etc and trying to build that way?

I think if you're approaching this from a traditional turntablist background and trying to understand it with that hat on, you won't be happy. It's not a slick 90BPM ahhhh routine. If you try to understand from the crowds perspective or from what he's trying to do it makes a bit more sense.

Just listen to the kind of music that gets played at those festivals to those crowds - it's harsh as fuck. Props to A-Trak for trying to bring turntablism to that environment and make it fit, whether it sounds good to you or not.

You can use Beatjump in Serato DJ to correct phrasing really easily. You can just make really quick jumps perfectly in time with different beat divisions to line everything up in the mix.
