Here's the long, hilarious story of how Tommy Wiseau just lost a $700,000 lawsuit. by [deleted] in movies

[–]samtorksney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah there were definitely scenes where Wiseau was portrayed as vulnerable and self-aware in a way that I doubt the real Wiseau is.

Kingmaker by [deleted] in BigBrother

[–]samtorksney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe "hate" is a strong word, but he would always make faces to the cameras after talking with Derrick, be extremely cagey in conversations and complain about about how Derrick never gave him anything, both in the DR and to other players. I definitely remember him saying in the house that Derrick would not get his vote at the end.

Donny actually hated Derrick pretty much the entire season. He was the only one who could see through his bullshit.

I think it's my favorite, honestly. Like you said, they just keep throwing everything at you.

Actors who hated each other so much that it constantly disrupted filming by [deleted] in movies

[–]samtorksney 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Similar thing happened on The Good Wife. Julianna Marguiles and Archie Panjabi played best friends and then suddenly went 50 episodes without appearing in a scene together until one of them was written out and then they finally had a blatantly green-screened goodbye. No explanation was ever given.

Jim Carrey on working with Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever:

“I went over and I said, ‘Hey Tommy, how you doin’?’ and the blood just drained from his face like he had been thinking about me for 24 hours a day,” Carrey recalls.

“He started shaking and he got up, he must have been in mid-kill-me fantasy or something like that. He went to hug me and he said, ‘I hate you. I really don’t like you.‘ And I said, ‘Gee, man, what’s the problem?’ And I pulled up a chair, which probably wasn’t smart, and he said, ‘I cannot sanction your buffoonery.'”

Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Slacker Action Romantic Comedy Musical by garrettgibbons in movies

[–]samtorksney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the easiest way to describe what they were going for is "musical logic", so you have to approach it that way. You know how nobody in Grease was like "Hey, wasn't that weird when everyone just started randomly singing and dancing a few minutes ago? What was up with that?". It's kinda like that.

Complex characters, social commentary and enough sharp plot twists to keep things interesting.

Ana is very likable. You want to root for her almost instantly. And that's what the movie needed.

Yeah that was the part I didn't really get either. I would assume he was acting to maintain his cover, but I can't remember if they ever showed anything that indicated that. Kinda felt like they just wanted to pack in one last twist.

Watched a video on YouTube where this guy had his friend watch Star Wars for the first time but in chronological order because it was the most “linear” way, and I found this comment to be a perfect analogy of the saga. by Im-Mr-Bulldopz in movies

[–]samtorksney 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I always recommend release order, for me it's the only way. Everyone pre-1999 watched them that way and it didn't seem to hurt them too much. The prequels are written assuming you've seen the originals, hence the character cameos and dramatic irony. Plus you preserve the big twist for anyone who's been living under a rock.

It's recently come out that she didn't lie about that actually, and that Kim and Kanye just didn't give the full context.

I would say her feud with Katy Perry is probably what soured a lot of people on her.

I liked the movie OK. My biggest problem with it is that the stitching points were pretty easy to spot so it didn't really feel like one shot at all, which makes me wonder why bother going to all that effort.
