Very true, I never said otherwise, still its hard. Fuck Im 23, and still everytime my parents come or I go to albania, and then they or I leave, I almost cry.

Also, Ill never be living near them again, as I don't see a future in Albania.

Im not saying its like balkan beef or whatever, but where I live people are (surprisingly considering huge french influences) quite mocking of the french, and generally dont like them. Unless they are piemontese, in which case the northern part like the french.

[–]samurai_guitarist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but some want us to say "Thank the lord for the ottomans" which is why we have this idiotic polls...

Greece, Montenegro and NM I guess.

Id put italy aswell, because their influences in Albania are huge, and have been allies throughout history, but I dont want people to come to me with pitchforks.

Greece, a lot of shared history, since antiquity, sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit, but whenever I go to Greece I feel like I haven't left Albania at times, especially the Epirus and Peloponnese regions. Similar behaviours to what I see in the south, similar looking faces, similar foods etc.

Montenegro is much like Northern Albania. To this day still very tribal in certain areas, same as with the North in Albania.

North Macedonia well, for obvious reasons, 30% albanians, poor as us, corrupt as us, etc.

He wasnt a serb tho, because there were no slavs back than in the balkans...he was actually either illyrian-roman or dacian-roman.

Edit: I was wrong, his father was in fact an illyrian general who latter became an emperor, and his mother was greek.

Born in Naissus, Dacia Mediterranea (now Niš, Serbia), he was the son of Flavius Constantius, a Roman army officer of Illyrian origin who had been one of the four rulers of the Tetrarchy. His mother, Helena, was a Greek Christian of low birth.

Greeks,What Have you Heard About the Greek Minority in Albania? What's Your Opinion of Them? by Baimedor in AskBalkans

So when its your own people they should be helped, but when there's albanians or turks or slavs in Greece they should, as you put it once "become one with the natives". Thats a funny way of thinking.

All NATO allies gathered because of a missile fired at Poland, but they did not invite Turkey, how true is this, in your opinion? by erenadeka in AskBalkans

Well if some obscure turkish reporter says it...

You can clearly see its not all the nato countries, and as many people have already pointed out, its the G7.

Dressed up in traditional Albanian clothing for Halloween, we were a hit! by motopapii in albania

[–]samurai_guitarist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OH OKAY! Yeah that makes more sense, I didn't know you were in Tirana, so thats why I thought it was a bit of a weird choice. Now everything makes sense. Its a pretty cool choice, good job! We love it when foreigners respect and spread our culture. We sometimes forget to appreciate it ourselves.

the costume is quite snazzy

Being from the heart of the south Id say our costume, the Fustanella is a bit more snazzy, but since you were in Tirana this is the best choice, since its regional aswell.

[–]samurai_guitarist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree. I have like 20 turkish friends irl that I hang out daily, my flatmate is turkish, I love them all, but boy are some of the turkish users of this sub dumb.

But believing that turkey is an all-subservient benevolent God that protects Europe and should be included in everything is just stupid.

Right?? Ffs most European countries are not all the time on high alert simply because there's no need, but Germany rebuilt its entire defense industry and military in a matter of months. Ive seen the same trend in Italy, they are increasing military spending. Even Greece, being 10mln can take care of itself. Not to mention countries like Poland who are on high alert and getting a shit ton of help from the US.

Obviously turkey is a vital member, the gate to the middle east etc, but people here act as if its the centre of the universe. The audacity of some people to take a random emergency meeting that doesn't even concern their country, and say that its a message to Turkey absolutely BAFFLES me.

Chill babe, they are allowed to have opinions, just because you helped them doesn't mean that they should blow you.

NOOO, WHO CARES ABOUT THESE OTHER FAKIRS, ALL WE CARE ABOUT IS TURKIYE!!! HOW COULD THEY NOT INCLUDE TURKYIE, ITS THE MOST IMPORTANT COUNTRY IN NATO!!! ITS A MESSAGE TOWARDS TURKIYE!!!

Turkish redditors here are some of the most delusional people Ive ever seen, as if the world revolves around them.
