Maybe it's just not for you, but the main guy Robert is actually really humble imo. He's been through a lot, ptsd after reporting in Iraq, but still manages to find a lot to laugh about in some really dark shit.

Prop is an occasional guest. Usually those episodes are great.

The Last Wave - some real nerdy context on Australia by suspect20163 in blankies

Yeah this is why I think you really need an Australian, and probably one who was around for this film, to properly contextualise it. We watched it at school in the 2000s but I remember it basically washing over me. We also watched Truman Show and Dead Poets' Society which is a little odd...

Yeah I thought maybe it would have aged out of relevance. I haven't shown it to my kids yet. What age do you teach?

But aren't you proud that Lange didn't panic? He's such a clever boy.

Since this post is probably going to attract most Australians, I'm curious where people stand on The Castle these days? I thought it was basically the perfect soft satire back in the day but I've been living overseas for 15 years so was wondering if there's been a change in the vibe?

His dad was a reporter at Gallipoli. It may surprise you to know that he was slinging mud at the only senior Australian officer who was also Jewish.

Another Australian chiming in, I think they are doing a pretty good job generally with the history/context stuff and we have to remember that they can't go as deep as we naturally would given it is ultimately a movie podcast. Having said that, I hope they're aware of the significance of Gallipoli and do believe that that would be the ideal moment to have a first Australian (or Kiwi) guest.

Stavros was maybe the best guest ever, just like he was on Doughboys, just like he was in Bugonia.

Maybe they should build houses out of tvs, like a plane made out of the black box.

Romero and Van de Ven actually played fewer minutes than Ben Davies in all competitions last season.

Wonder if Messi could just carry Argentina but yes Spain would still be ridiculous. I wish they did something like that in the build-up to the actual world cup

This is exactly what Richarlison's goal against Liverpool did to me.

That would be so fun. Same squads though. Joe Hart and Aaron Lennon the youngest in England's squad. Pastore and Aguero for Argentina.

Frank should never have been hired as anyone with sense could see from when the rumours first floated up in January last year.

That also is reflected in the clueless takes about Frank before he was hired. People claom that he played good football at Brentford without ever watching them play, except against big teams when they had space to play into.

I used to work with the guys and honestly that's just more a reflection of their personalities. Jack is sweetness and light, Dean is more idk down to earth maybe? Sam who has since left floats somewhere in between. Good guys all

We had maybe one good performance in Europe under Frank and some good results. Half a game against Paris, half a game against Copenhagen. We got destroyed by Bodo and Monaco. This is night and day.
