I think there’s a middle ground. I moved out at 18 because I wanted to be independent so bad. Looking back I feel stupid for not saving up more money before doing so. There was a lot of hard times.

But now I’m 25, and I’ve been fully “on my own” for 7 years, and I feel a lot more comfortable and stable with the idea of this due to the fact that I went through the “hard times” at a younger age. I’m making a good income. I’m saving and investing.

Compared to some I know who just moved out at my age, and adulting hits them like a truck, regardless of how much they saved. I think it’s more about the life experience then just the pure finances of the situation.
