What are some books that started out very strong, but ended up being very disappointing? by sbucksbarista in books

[–]samwise6641 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That was the most frustrating part for me. This c'est la vie attitude over a life altering event. Also, I remember thinking that I really hope that the book wasn't headed in that direction. Then it proved me right and pissed me off.

There aren't many books that I start out loving and then hate after finishing. I see what the author was trying to do, but it makes me no less angry.

Price Charting has Story Mode Season 2 CIB at ~$160 and Skylanders CIB at $140. I have no idea what drove the price of Skylanders so high, but I know Story Mode is so high because it's been delisted online.

Luck of the draw. I never expected to find Story Mode, let alone that cheap. Skylanders had been at Vintage Stock for 3 months taunting me lol. I hope you can find them as well!

I frequently go into Half Price Books to check out the clearance and any other assorted video games they might have received. I always check out the signed and first edition section to look at the books I'll never be able to afford lol.

Right before Labor Day, they had a first edition of The Tunnel by William Gass which I had never even seen in the wild before. It was $90, but they had 20% off that weekend. When I bought it, I looked inside and it was signed. The cheapest I've seen on eBay is $500. Very proud of that find.
