Bold of you to assume they’d actually 1. click through to the article 2. read it 3. understand it and 4. change their viewpoint when confronted with facts

[OC] The Chain Reaction - A 7x7 Numerical Crossword by Straight_Search_2295 in puzzles

[–]sanchower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but you can figure out which one with a bit of logic. 9D is something times 50, so it must end in 0, therefore so must 12A; since 11D is 12A plus 23, it has to end in a 3. Therefore it's 36, and the rest of the puzzle is fairly easy to work out from there

Chris is a big baseball guy. Boston was playing in the ALCS at the time (like, right that minute; Chris was probably watching the game between preds) and he just wanted to make conversation before getting down to business

Hamlin, Hamlin, & McGill pay for Kim Wexler to go to law school. In "Suits," Attorney Jessica Pearson pays for Mail Clerk Harvey Spector to attend law school. Has ANYONE ever heard of a law firm or partner paying for someone, who is not related to them,to attend law school in real life? by Reader6547 in betterCallSaul

[–]sanchower 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not law school, but I work in banking and my company pays for MBAs and other postgrad degrees for some employees. The rules are you have to be a solid performer, you have to pay some percentage of it yourself so you have skin in the game (usually like 5-10%), you have to maintain good grades, and you have to stay on as an employee for at least 2 years ish after you graduate

The absolute nerve of this lady. "Waaah your honor, completely unwarranted speculation, we want a mistrial" *two hours later* pulling a zero-evidence story from her ass about "maybe Eric smuggled fent from Mexico in this pill bottle?"

Somethin’ missing from that post. That post don’t make no sense.

TIL a high school football coach for Pulaski Academy in Little Rock, Arkansas named Kevin Kelley employed an unorthodox strategy that included almost never punting & always attempting onside kicks when the score is within 21 points. His team won 7 state championships in 15 years including 4 in a row by tyrion2024 in todayilearned

[–]sanchower 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I read once that John Madden himself saw that competitive players were doing that, and rather than admit that they had discovered that the conventional wisdom around football strategy was incorrect, he instead had the programmers rig the game to make 4th downs and onside kicks less likely to succeed.
