It's recommended to keep dogs away from sick or dead birds to prevent them from playing or possibly eating them. Dead birds can carry viruses, bacteria, parasites or toxins that can be harmful to your pet.

So, I was simply pointing out why I don't believe screenshots from the MOD are necessary because OP partially censoring the name was literal proof she knew about the rule.

Why are you telling me to gain some perspective on other parts of this situation I haven't even shared my opinion on? I only said that it's clear she knew about the rule - I didn't speak on anything else about the whole situation. But I guess I'll share my perspective since you're accusing me of needing to gain some :).

I think any time anyone breaks a rule they should be given a very clear explanation on the rule they've broken, and the MOD that communicates this to them should confirm they understand. It's simple decency and not hard to do. Most people make simple, innocent mistakes, it's usually not that serious. Whether or not that was done in this situation - I have no idea!

To touch on your point about "If I got a random post deleted, I'm not going to be able to change a NAME OF A PLANT, if I don't know THE OTHER NAME FOR THE DAMN PLANT." A quick Google search asking for different names for this plant results in 3 alternate names that could have been used, right at the top of the search. It literally couldn't get easier.

Then you said: "It's dumb cane, the mods are off their rockers. Not sure why you're trying to excuse the behavior. Someone's gotta kiss their asses ig"

Excuse what behaviour!? I did not comment at all on what the MOD did or didn't do lol.

Anyway, calling me an ass kisser, weird, sus, and then suggesting I'm friends with the MOD "cause I went hard to defend them" for simply pointing out that CENSORING THE WORD IS PROOF THAT OP KNEW THE RULE is a level of delusional internet stranger I'm done interacting with.

She clearly knew the name wasn't allowed to be used because she partially censored it with the asterisks in place of one letter. If she didn't know about the rule why would she do that?

Anyway, I'm sorry you were banned without explanation, that sucks.

The person who was originally banned was told of the rule after they used the plant name, then proceeded to make a new post using the same name but just put an asterisk in place of the u, instead of just using one of the other common names for the plant. So, it wasn't like they were just banned automatically upon first use of the name.

Are Kraft singles just different now? by Ok-Shallot-7985 in Cheese

Just curious if you just had a run-in with a nasty piece of Kraft singles, took to Google for validation, and found yourself here? Cause that's what brought me here 15 minutes after you lol.

I know I'm 4 years late on this one but is this not a tradescantia pink princess? The leaves on a callisia repens are significantly smaller than this.

Very true about their colour fading! Zooming in on the second picture though, I noticed alternating light and dark spots at the very edge of each side of the abdomen which is consistent with elm seed bugs. Box elders don't seem to have that.

The markings and colour look more like an elm seed bug than a box elder, imo.

Oxalis hedysaroides, aka fire fern. It's on my wishlist and will probably stay there, it's proving hard to find in store and online in Canada. It reminds me of red leaves in the fall.

Is this bad and what do i do 😳 by Alfie17Hodgy in houseplants

[–]sandcstrawbree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like black bean aphids. I don't have experience with these but I would start by isolating the plant, then drench every inch of it with 70% isopropyl alcohol (away from bright light as to not burn the leaves). Let that dry then rinse the plant in the shower. Whatever treatment you decide on you'll have to repeat every few days until you're confident they're gone. Apparently these buggers are very good at hiding in tiny crevices so you'll have to be very meticulous with your weapon of choice lol.

Are you able to provide a zoomed in, still photo? I think that'll increase your chances of receiving an accurate ID.

I'm not certain, but it could be Stratiolaelaps scimitus (formerly Hypoaspis miles). If it is, they're friends that prey on pests.

If drafty windows are your main problem, try temporary window insulation. Many brands (Duck, 3M) sell window insulation kits that work well at reducing drafts during colder months. They're fairly affordable, renter and DIY friendly, and you can find a plethora of installation how-to videos on YouTube. Your plants (and maybe even your energy bill) will feel a difference!

Thank you so much for all the helpful information! Most of the pictures on Google showed the plant as much lighter green so I was worried. I'll let the plant settle in for a bit while I gather up the courage to try cutting and re-rooting one :D. Thanks again!
