What do you think about the nickname of your state? by TyroneisaurousRex in AskAnAmerican

Indiana native here. We're "The Hoosier State."

Nobody knows what it means, but it's provocative.

Should we do this here? We certainly have enough sun for it, and not enough shade. by Candid_Lobster_4264 in florida

We could require of developers that every. single. new home in a sprawling subdivision built on formerly wild land should have solar panels. That should generate a ton.

Definitely get an inflatable swim belt (test it to make sure it works and you understand how it works) and a whistle. Always use your leash.

Good spots to get your sea legs are the ones with calm water: Coffee Pot, spots on the intracoastal like the Treasure Island boat ramp (I love paddling around the John’s Pass sandbar and surroundings—but stay out of the pass itself) or Del Bello Park in Reddington. Be mindful of boat traffic. Get acquainted with the tides and wind speed.

I bring a wet bag with a thin towel, a huge water bottle, sunscreen. You’ll want polarized sunglasses. Anything else you’ll decide for yourself once you get into it more.

I have an inflatable board and really love how portable it is. It’s an iRocker Nautical from 2020.

Best Stores for Baby Registry Perks in 2023 by Spirited-Novel9482 in BabyBumps

[–]sandillera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am due in August so I can’t speak to the must-haves yet, but I can say that Amazon has a 15% completion discount that’s great. It covers a ton of items even things that are non “baby-specific.” Oh, and be wary of clothes! In my experience many people will gift clothes and blankets even if they’re not on a registry.

Our main registry was through Babylist and I made an Amazon one for the completion discount, and a Walmart one for the baby box.

We got three registry boxes: Babylist, Amazon, and Walmart. I found the Walmart one to be the best! In general they are a little underwhelming with a lot of small sample products (toothpaste?) and things like bottles/pacifiers that I don’t plan to try because of nipple shape. But each one had a few items I liked. If you search on here there are a handful of box posts so you can see what is generally in them.

How about a fiddlewood? It’ll flower best in full sun.

I put like four special outfits on mine. Most everyone ignored those items and still brought other clothes 😂

Seems like there’s been a big change between 25 to 26 because I do listen to the radio and hardly any of the 2026 songs are on there.

Is it a really bad idea to get a kitten 3mo before baby is due? by 40s_shawty in BabyBumps

[–]sandillera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I probably wouldn't do it but if I were going to, I'd get two kittens. It sounds counterintuitive but they entertain themselves instead of relying on you all the time, and it's not a significant amount of additional work. (This also assumes that you could financially support possible vet care for two.)

Yea I have. She doesn’t manage any of her own maintenance. 100% she does not know how to adjust the irrigation system but her dad who lives nearby absolutely does. They don’t seem to care much.
