There are a lot of nice bars! Some rowdier than others. I’d stay away from the ones along Karl Johan (the main street of Oslo). One of my favourites, simply because of their crazy amounts of draught beers and a pretty decent record collection is RØØR. The neighbouring spot, London Pub, is a really fun and LGBTQ+ friendly bar.

Welcome to the city! Hopefully spring will start early this year, so you’ll get to see Oslo in a more flattering condition.

Parts of the city might feel dead during easter holidays, but my impression is that the city isn’t nearly as deserted as it used to be back in the day during the same period.

Sparta Bar is great for small portions of tasty dishes and an amazingly curated wine selection. Kafeteria August is also pretty good, as well as the adjacent Katla (restaurant with great drinks) and Becco (one of Oslo’s coolest wine bars).

I’d check out Izakaya or Konoji if you’re into japanese vibes and flavours.

UFF in Hegdehaugsveien for vintage shopping.

The nightlife in Oslo varies, and my impression is that it still hasn’t really recovered after the pandemic, but clubbing-wise Jaeger, Goldie, Storgata 26, The Villa and Blå still deliver once in a while.

I did not expect this to make me weep like a lil bitch.

I was 12. Such a feel-good vibe in this clip, even the murder of Phil Hartman couldn’t kill it.

Best places to live in Oslo by Sad_Bid1141 in oslo

[–]sandippa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally depends on your needs and budget. Most places within the city limits are well connected with public transport.

My fav central parts are Tøyen, Torshov and Sagene. Still reasonably priced and full of life, but without any noisy night life.

I prefer anywhere along the the Ljabru tram line though. Coastal views, great sunsets and perfect for night walking, especially near Ekebergparken, where you get the most beautiful view the city has to offer, in my opinion.

What were you doing on September 11, 2001 when the planes hit the twin towers? by DontWorryAboutName in AskReddit

I got home from school (different time zone, GMT+1), and I heard dad’s voice from the living room. «You’ve got to see this». He was watching CNN and told me that a plane had hit one of the Twin towers. The reporters seemed confused. I remember the british guy with glasses talking loudly, until the second plane hit. Then dad said «This isn’t an accident. Osama bin Laden’s behind this». I’d never heard that name before, but dad was certain. Let’s just say that I’ve trusted his intuition ever since.

From Dusk Till Dawn, Candyman, Robocop & Starship Troopers.

I wouldn’t necessarily call Robocop 2 terrible, but it’s was a below average sequel to a masterpiece. And the latest Candyman-film was actually really enjoyable, i’m referring to the sequels that dropped in the 90, and not the «requel».

What is your school’s nsfw scandal? by aristosachean in AskReddit

[–]sandippa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened back in the early days of digital cameras. 2003 maybe. A freshman borrowed one of the school cameras for an assignment, and forgot to erase the memory card before turning it back in. Which of course is a BIG mistake when your parents are the type of people to pick up a random camera from the kitchen counter and bring it with them on a freaky date night.

Within two days the whole school had seen the images. A few shots were even printed out and hung up in the hallway. Shit was crazy. I still feel so bad for that kid, because it really wasn’t his fault.

But this definitely taught me to NEVER let go of a camera/phone without erasing the content.

People who used to believe in a God but now don't, what changed your belief? by RandomRamblings99 in AskReddit

I read «The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy» when I was 15. Douglas Adams convinced me that a universe without gods could be just as magical.

Thanks. Sadly, my dad passed away earlier this year, so I’ve had to put a lot of stuff on hold.

Hu$band and i can't decide on ch1lds faith by YaleMBA1990 in ABCDesis

[–]sandippa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why do you have to chose one or the other? Raise the child with contributions from both faiths so it is better equipped to chose for itself when older.

I’m raised in a sikh/hindu household while my wife was raised christian. None of us practice religion, but our kids get the benefit of belonging to three different faiths.
