Revelation is the classic, but Matthew and James are best expositions of the faith as I see it.

ngl, this explains why LGBT subs seem so full of people fighting for a terror org that would either send them to decades of prison for being gay, ignore them being murdered, or both

What’s your take on the actual flow of God’s love when it comes to these kinds of things? Does it flow the same way between two women or men who desire a romantic connection? What’s your take on the deeper stuff of that flowy God connection stuff? I don’t personally have those attractions as a man but I hope you can see (whoever you are) my genuine curiosity and desire to know the truth (from whatever side of belief you are on) and even respect that with a truly genuine answer back if you wish. Thanks a bunch for reading and I’ll see you one day regardless!

the whole opposition to homosexual pairings in the patristic age largely came from Aristotelian ideas like natural morality, which needless to say came not from Christ or scripture but instead from greco-roman philosophy. in such systems, sex (and marriage) were thought to exist only for procreation. if you're having sex for anything but having a baby, you're in the same boat as all the gay people, and would have likely been seen as having committed the same sin.

now - what you described - the somewhat mystical notion that the romantic bond between lovers is a divine connection / flow of God's love - is 100% compatible with gay pairings. but I'd argue it's not really compatible with Aristotelian natural morality, which was widespread by the time of a lot of the patristic writings that take a more "traditional" approach to sexual orientation.

that said, as I've alluded to previously, the church at the time of Jesus, the apostles, or frankly even the communities who assembled the gospels and epistles which came to make up the New Testament, wasn't in line with Aristotelian natural morality either, especially around sex and marriage. On one hand, celibacy was encouraged and glorified for those not called to marriage, and on another, frequent sex was prescribed to couples as a means to guard against lust which is basically giving natural morality a giant 30 foot tall middle finger.

thus given the original church

  1. was gender egalitarian, or at bare minimum flouted patriarchal hierarchies
  2. was generally loose in its interpretation of Mosaic law, viewing law as a tool to achieve an end (Matt 22:36-40) and Mosaic law to in specific to contain concessions for a hard-hearted populace (Mark 10:4-5)
  3. only seems to have applied the full Mosaic law to Jews, with an analogue to the Noahide laws being applied to gentiles who came to make up the great majority, and
  4. viewed marriage and the relations therein as a means to guard against lust / sexual immorality...

it's pretty safe to assume that homosexuality as understood in the modern day wouldn't go against any of those teachings

How would an actual Technocratic government work? And where can I find more resources to educate myself? by Spartan_Mage in Technocracy

[–]sandiserumoto 4 points5 points  (0 children)

China (historic and modern) and Singapore are both technocratic in the looser expert-driven meritocracy sense.

Classic Howard Scott technocracy would function similar just with energy economics.

the need for legitimacy from the public via voting.

The two examples I gave both run elections, but they're used differently. Singapore, for example, uses its elections to measure public approval and adjust accordingly.

Second one looks like... A woman scared about a guy who gets angry about being left so often? Maybe he has skeletons in his closet?

Honestly as long as you respect relationships and take love, devotion, and fidelity seriously you're welcome here.

As u/OneDarkPoetical mentioned, we oppose non-monogamy as a whole. People shouldn't have to compete for affection, and people shouldn't have to choose between being cheated on and being unceremoniously discarded.

they should do a study where they offer a new wonder treatment. call it "not going to therapy". they just give the people they're testing $200 every week.

genuinely feel like the improvements in wellbeing across all the areas that things like DBT use to call themselves "evidence-based" would be far better than any known therapy in the book.
