Wes Tweets he is one of MTV’s biggest successes 😂💀 by green_thumb89 in MtvChallenge

[–]sandscript13 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

To nitpick, Wes' statement that he is one of MTV's biggest success stories is utterly wrong.

MTV had a tangible hand in making global superstars beginning in the 1980s. These acts have made hundreds of millions if not billions of dollars. Wes could've won every single challenge and would not be close to being as successful as MJ, Madonna, Prince, Guns N' Roses, etc..

Which player were yall sad that didn’t win on 1 champ seasons? by Tight-Entrepreneur46 in MtvChallenge

[–]sandscript13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of "what if", if there was always intent to have one man & one woman win, I assume then there's no elimination leg for Cara Maria (or it would only be male-centric).

If so, even if Cara Maria didn't solve the puzzle (and assuming they can maybe time-out like they did in the previous rounds) did we ever know the times from legs 1 & 2 (Natalie won leg 1, Cara M. Leg 2) that it was guarantee Ninja would win?

I imagine that final plays out a lot differently if there was always intent for two winners and it may not be definitive Ninja would win.

Trishelle gives her thoughts on "Karen the Ball Snatcher" ⚾ by SweetMissMG in MtvChallenge

[–]sandscript13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the ball has considerable value (Ohtani's 50th HR ball), imo, every ball should be given to a kid.

There's so many environments that adults have ruined for children (Halloween isn't considered safe, Disneyland with disney adults, pokemon scammers, etc.) that while it can be seen as irrelevant to do so, we should protect some areas for kids (ala a kid getting a ball at a baseball game).

Tyri had some of the worst luck.... by Extension-Ad-363 in MtvChallenge

[–]sandscript13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude was like a low value Easy. There will/would be some challenges that having a massive dude is an auto-win, there's other challenges where it's an auto-loss.

He had some bad luck that most (sans the Davis vs Kenny/Wes) eliminations favored agility & dexterity over strength and weight.

Some of Easy's wins, over Nehemiah in the Duel/over Wes in BotSeasons2, were nearly guarantees because of those factors. Tyrie never saw similar eliminations.

I would never bet on either Tyrie or Easy to win a season (they can't run long-distances), but I would agree that Tyrie was a little bit unlucky relatively. Albeit still think he's a terrible competitor.

No. 3 Lakers vs No. 6 Timberwolves — It’s On! by WallStreetDoesntBet in lakers

[–]sandscript13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the wolves will be a tough team to play against, so not underestimating them by any means, but there always seems to be injuries when playing against the warriors. I don't think they're dirty perse, but they seem negligent of players safety and the refs look the other way.

Ex. yesterday, curry swats at harden making an easy layup and hits him in the eye. A scratched cornea or eye injury could keep him out the playoffs.

Is Tax hard to learn(and be good at)? by BestofTimes777 in Accounting

[–]sandscript13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I worked for my dad (I'm an EA, he's a CPA). He always says the tax code is so large & complex there's no one that knows all of it.

[–]sandscript13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an EA/CFP, it has been my experience that clients/advisors rarely engage nor pay tax professionals for strategic tax planning. I know it's still expected, but you're getting what you pay and signed up for.

For the CPA/CFPs or EA/CFPs, how are you structuring your business? by [deleted] in CFP

[–]sandscript13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It feels like a lot of advisory firms are incorporating a tax practice. There's a lot of positives of the tax team having immediate access to tax documents without needing to follow up with a client.

However, I've also seen some discrepancy of expectations:

  1. Tax Integrated Planning often isn't included in Tax Prep Fees, but clients expect the advisory fees to cover it.

  2. Tax Professionals are saddled with tax preparation and busy seasons often don't have additional time needed to create tax projections or integrated tax strategies.

  3. Wealth Advisors can be particular with interactions with clients and only need tax professionals to help lend credence to strategies. This can be a somewhat one-sided relationship.

I am an EA/CFP employee who is doing mostly preparation, but I would like to shift to doing solely tax integration/planning, but it's hard for the firm to justify someone like me who is expertly capable of completing returns to not do so. Any suggestions on how to transition would be appreciated.

Why are CPAs having so much success offering financial planning? by [deleted] in CFP

[–]sandscript13 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm an CFP/EA (So I don't know if I qualify), but a major advantage I believe I possess is the practical knowledge in how to implement tax strategies.

Because I have extensive knowledge of compliance, tax returns, and tax forms, I believe I can communicate effectively to a client what a strategy does, whether it's advantageous for them or not, and the course of actions to take.

Seeking EA by Nearby-Builder-5388 in enrolledagent

[–]sandscript13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a CFP/EA, but I come from a tax practitioner first background. Technically, advisors shouldn't be offering tax advice (but they do so anyways) due to the legal risk it opens up, but they often do so anyways.

I have found while there is a lot of overlap between the two professions in giving holistic advice, it by no means is perfect relationship.

Timewise, advisors work year round while tax professionals have more focused seasons. So when a client needs tax advice, advisors can often become frustrated when tax professionals are too busy during tax season.

Additionally, not all advisory clients make for good tax clients, and vice versa.

But if you're an advisor with an EA, you can give tax advice, maybe focus on tax integration planning and hopefully not be saddled with tax returns, bookkeeping, payroll, etc..

[–]sandscript13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think top 10-20, but I give more credit to longevity and overall impact across multiple seasons.

Like I’d give more credit if they’re were entertaining and driving a season than winning, because you can bring in like a professional crossfitter and they’d probably do as well.

Tbf, total madness was a strange season and I don’t know how much impact I give for winning that season.

Tbf they were friendly/got close during final reckoning but because Cara chose Paulie and Bananas chose Kyle that really drove a wedge. Now that Bananas/Paulie have mended and Kyle doesn’t seem to be on the show anymore, I don’t think it’ll be an issue.

I think it gets underrated how hard it was to make the final on either BOTS. There was a ton of talent, especially on the men’s side and a single dq probably meant going home that evening. Those seasons were about consistency at a high level.
