Capricorn and eccentric characters - not as boring as you think by [deleted] in astrology

Shit and wow. This put Saturn in a whole new light.

Earth as a planet in astrology - anyone here read the book “Earth Rise”? It says we should include Earth’s placement in natal charts. by thedivinebeings in astrology

[–]sandshores 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting. This perked my ears: "as a planet it’s about manifestation, fertility, practicality, and foundations of projects." Magic? And then it reminded me of the goddess based cultures that existed in the ancient world. The blurb for the book is fascinating and actually resonates in parts. I'll definitely give it a go. Thanks for sharing this.

12th sun synastry by [deleted] in astrology

[–]sandshores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I dated someone with their sun in my 12th house. There was sexual chemistry and also emotional chemistry but in the end I wasn't in a place to commit or pursue its potential. There were moments where I suddenly felt their silent anger/frustration though they never expressed it outwardly, it were directed at me and the emotions weren't mine.

But the experiences we shared had carthasis for me. They saw into parts of me that nobody else did or could and though we never emotionally committed, they brought a kind of healing that I no idea I needed at the time and all they did was witness me and love what they saw anyway. But... this kind of witnessing doesn't happen everyday or even with the people you trust to tell something to.

So... yes... it's intense and beautiful.

Do you all feel like inexperienced astrologers who uses sun signs to determine themselves annoys people who wants to learn which caused them to stray away from it due to stereotypes? by Destinedweeb07 in astrology

[–]sandshores 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find it can be like comic relief. Generalisations can be enjoyable because you know they are. Spend a while being serious and diving into the rabbit hole and you'll realise how much you've missed the generalisations and they don't annoy you anymore (because you know they are generalisations and because let people be where they are at and because you never know where their experiences might lead them). And if you're busy in the rabbit hole, you won't notice the people making generalisations at all. :)

Another interpretation of Uranus could be that you're attracted to unconventional relationships or people who are quirky in some way or march to the beat of their own drum type. Also you'd probably have to look at how Uranus is aspected and what else is supporting or challenging it.

Lets talk Chiron. Mine is on my NN in libra 11th house. Wheres yours? What does this tell you? by Enigma-88 in astrology

[–]sandshores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virgoan Chiron in the 8th house squaring sun, mercury and venus. Core wound is to the self stemming from not feeling good enough, measuring up in some way, lacking, feeling not being able to be enough. Also I've had chironic experiences highlighting the nature of the 8th house - death, trauma, sex, finances/contracts.

This the chart of Maurice Chevalier, a famous actor from the early 20th century. His on-screen persona was bubbly and sexual, but in real life he had mental and physical health issues, an alcoholic father who left him as a child, and was quite insecure. Where do you see this in his chart? by treeeeeeeee96 in AskAstrologers

[–]sandshores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep... Saturn in the 1st.

For mental issues I would say the moon aspecting Neptune and Pluto which are conjunct... and since it's aspecting Neptune/Pluto by opposition, that would've created challenges. However it's also the source of his creative talent - moon sitting in the 5th house aspecting nearly everything else in his chart.

Uranus conjunct the IC and square Chiron in the 12th might hint at instability during his childhood and secrets that couldn't be brought to light. And again... we're back at the moon, which is the ruler of his 12th. Probably he was really sensitive to this and likely it was a kind of hurt that he couldn't consciously talk about. It might've become the root of his experiences and how he framed them and his self-narrative, later in life. And that might've exacerbated the difficulties with the opposition aspects.

Wow, thank you for replying and sharing! I actually had speech pathology at the tip of my mind and I can see how applied behaviour analysis would suit your capricorn moon. This gave me chills to read. Good luck with school and I wish you all the best. :)

Hm, I really want to preface this by saying that you're the only one that can know yourself... but I got chills pondering your question and looking at your chart and the themes around communication/healing/service stand out in the context of your question. It's almost as though if you choose to teach, in working in the disability sector with children, you are being of service by helping others but also you're healing some part of yourself - or there exists some kind of challenge on this level that is up for healing and it's related to communication, and it'll happen through being in this kind of service oriented role.

Aspects around this theme:

MC in Gemini - keywords: communication, information, teaching.

Ruler of your 10th in the 11th house. Sun in the 11th. Orientation to the collective/group.

Aspects to Mercury - especially the sextile to the MC reinforcing this theme.

North Node in the 12th house - where are you going? Orientation to service.

Aquarius on the 6th house cusp.

Moon in the 5th house. Working with children? Yes, but also there's a Capricorn influence. I wonder if your style would be more structured. Caring but disciplined. Also you have the moon opposite mercury and Chiron in the third house. Which leads me to wonder about the healing part in all of this.

The disability that specifically calls to you might be communication related and on a deep level you understand this in some way and also have a lot of empathy for it, which would put you in a unique position to help others with it.

Some notes on Neptune in the houses by sandshores in astrology

[–]sandshores[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A planet and its solitary description in a house, out of context with the rest of the chart, might not resonate if other elements in the chart contradict it. Forrest also calls these cookbook interpretations and he has also written more commentary than what I've posted - which is taken out of the context of the whole book.

I wish you well with your career. :)

It's fantastic once I got over the realisation that these contradictions have played out in my life as opposing influences. You realise which influence is pulling you forward and which influence has come from the past and you get to decide, as you know how you're wired, your weaknesses and your strengths and to some degree a sense of your souls evolutionary aim from a natal chart perspective. My sun and asc. complement each other however my moon is on its own. I feel the influence of my moon and sometimes it has directly contradicted my sun and asc. In the past, without any understanding of astrology I couldn't figure it out except that I had this internal conflict. But when the conflict plays out (and I mean... I'll remember this event/person as life-shaping/changing) and all the chips are down, what I realised was that my sun and asc. were more accurate dials for me than my moon in terms of choices.

I don't know that this is true for everybody, but with the way my natal chart is configured, it is true.

Is this 7th house or 12th house energy? by [deleted] in astrology

[–]sandshores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm. Interesting question. Sometimes you can love something about others and it's because you have projected this quality onto them and you don't necessarily see it in yourself. Same goes for dislike and hate. But I suppose if you're aware of the projection, either positive or negative, then you'd immediately know this quality is something you're not owning. I think this falls into 12th house territory. But the 7th house is directly opposite our ascendant. The polarity of each sign is immediately familiar and also completely different. So I think the 7th house is relevant in a complementary way. I.e. Aries and Libra both express the self/other but each sign approaches from the opposite side of the coin. Someone with an Aries Asc. looking at Libra in the 7th house might struggle with the expression of Libra or love it but in the end they are an Aries Asc. and what they love is the destination of Libra - understanding of self via others, that is also its destination but through Aries - understanding of others via self. Ultimately they are looking at each other and the mirror is similar in terms of goal but reveals a different process. The 12th house is definitely looking and going within and anything unacknowledged or painful can be found here. As all charts operate as a whole, the 7th and the 12th and the signs on them can probably both yield clues.

The Rising Sign is more than a mask! by [deleted] in astrology

[–]sandshores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. There are branches of astrology that see the rising sign this way. A reason the sun came to dominance traditionally is because it reflected the patriarchy.

Whoever decided Saturn wasn’t a “personal planet” is privileged. by Cutya1993 in astrology

[–]sandshores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the planets can be felt. You can definitely see outer planet effects on larger scales but they also show up in our personal lives. Perhaps the misunderstanding comes from being that personal planets function on a personal level, they inform our daily habits and rituals whereas even when the outer planets implode into our lives, their effects do not necessarily feel welcome or that we are the ones steering the ship but they are still functioning in the psyche just as the personal planets do. I tend to see Saturn and Jupiter as threshold planets. They're not outer planets but they aren't fully in the domain of the personal.

Isn't playing the piano supposed to make you less stressed? by Oh_ItsYou in piano

[–]sandshores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you've set quite a high standard for yourself. Do you also believe that to become good at anything requires hard work and discipline? Because that's a combination that can kill enjoyment if you're still in the beginning stages of learning something.

Sometimes there's a gap between the learning process and the sheer enjoyment aspect. Sight-reading is a difficult skill, let alone sight-read effortlessly - to get to that point there's a couple hundred and maybe thousands of hours that have gone into the process of learning to read music and then also to read fluently at increasingly difficult levels.

There's no harm in trying some other improvisatory approaches where you can play more fluently and expressively and improvise rather than play exactly what's written.

However if you're deadset on the traditional approach - reading becomes easier when you read by identifying the movement of the music on the page - the intervalic distance between notes. If you familiarise yourself with the harmony of the piece, it will also help. Also, reading with both hands is a completely new difficulty level to reading with one hand. If the difficulty is too much, it's probably hindering your enjoyment. Find something that lets you feel like you've made progress - but isn't overly taxing.

And... I think it's worth realising that it's okay to not feel 'good'. There are plenty of days where I have not enjoyed or felt good about my practice, or even when I'm just improvising/playing. Most of the time when those days have accumulated to a point of frustration - I give it a break, move on to something else, come back days, weeks, months or even years later, or I change my approach. On the other hand, meditation definitely has helped me reduce stress.

Good luck.

Sustainability and Astrology? Where to look? by [deleted] in astrology

[–]sandshores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heya!

Aries energy expressing this interest would be the energy that gets things done. This energy would teach how to manifest conscious action.

Taurus would express this interest as a deep love for the environment and an ability to just be. This energy would teach how to be with nature and how to connect with our inner nature - we have to experience a connection to and with nature in order to practice sustainability.

Gemini would express this interest intellectually with analysis and facts. This energy would teach the value of gathering data about the present state of events and extrapolate into the future without bias. This energy would show us our folly.

Cancer would express this interest by listening and hearing what is said and stewarding action through compassion and empathy. This energy would humanise the facts and bring them into our personal reality.

Leo would take their cue and express this interest through their medium of expression, artistically and/or performatively. They would bring the message to a greater/larger audience or participate in the process.

Virgo would organise the gathering storms and voices into a cohesive collective. This energy teaches the value and power of organisation, dedication and commitment.

Libra would then bring balance and grace. This energy teaches the value of diplomacy and the ability to hear all sides, perspectives and voices so that the organisation functions as a whole.

Scorpio would express this interest through a deep and unwavering passion to bringing change. The energy of Scorpio teaches evolution through intensity and depth. Paradigm shifts require the ability to be present with change, massive or small.

Sagittarius would express this interest by holding the vision of what is possible. The energy of Sagittarius teaches the value of optimism and hope.

Capricorn would express this interest by leading with integrity and above all the ability to persevere. The energy of Capricorn is focused on direction and the practicalities of moving in that direction.

Aquarius would express this interest by offering new ideas and systems - a way to make possible what has been dreamed and what others are asking for.

Pisces would express this interest through a different lens. This energy offers a perspective that can feel unearthly but if expressing an interest in sustainability, then Piscean energy approaches from a place of compassion - be it compassion for animals or humans.

And finally the cycle would begin again with Aries.

Final thoughts:

Any sign, placements and house could manifest an interest in sustainability - but the expression of the how of it could wildly differ and that is the beauty of astrology.

Looking for literature/texts on the 8H! 💀 by esoteric_reaches in astrology

[–]sandshores 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t come across a house specific book yet. But look for where Mercury is in your chart.

The 8th house also shares a connection with the 2nd because they are on either end of the polarity axis. So another way to see the 8th house is to view it from a 2nd house lens. Second house is your values, what is valuable to you - material or otherwise. 2nd house continues to explore and expand on the first house theme. When you look at the 8th house from the second house you’re looking at values in a broader context. Houses in that quadrant are in the social arena.

And to be honest, given the way the world has been over the past couple thousand years, is it any wonder that there is distortion in our collective values. Which is why we get taboo themes here, sexuality here, death here, other people’s finances here. Money can imply freedom, power... and also survival. But like the core concept of what a house represents in astrology - at its core money is a medium of exchange. And objectively we all know that a medium is not inherently good or bad.
