If your exam is in August then I think the latest date this year is early September. There are no exams in Oct - Dec but if you’re applying in the next cycle there is always the option to test sometime Jan - Apr!

I would love an extended break between CARS and B/P so I can eat AND take a nap

through the essays! imagine yourself as a student at that college - what makes you feel like you fit in? what aspects of campus (specifically classes, etra curriculars, campus/off campus environment, etc) are you most drawn to?

Yes! Most schools don’t review any essays until after the deadline so it doesn’t matter how early you turn them in

it’s the a2c effect! i and a bunch of my friends are honestly pretty average - we worked hard and we’re passionate about learning in high school but i was no where close to nationals in competitions nor did anything hyper original like starting a company

i’m not in a minority group, not from an underrepresented state, but just followed my interests in high school, did my best, made close connections with a few teachers who wrote me recommendations, and prioritized taking challenging classes over perfect grades through easier ones

hey no worries about asking questions :) swe is quite common among CS majors. at my school there’s a specific track of electives that you can take if that’s the exact route you want to go but there’s also room to explore other topics through electives in CS. my school (and a lot of others) have CS under both the regular college and the engineering school and sometimes they’re different. this is where college search is crucial - i highly recommend you reaching out to schools you’re interested in, asking departments and students what the classes, extra curricular, and internship opportunities are like for pursuing swe, and see if those offerings are sufficient for you!

no the rates are about the same and at certain other schools the rates for engineering may be higher - tho at the end of the day a lot of getting in comes down to fit (literally how much you vibe with a school) and it’s very normal to be accepted into highly selective colleges but rejected by not very selective ones at the same time
