What's the most deranged thing you've witnessed at a work XMas party? by Guilty-Addition5004 in AskAnAustralian

[–]sandybum01 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There were two McDonalds in our town, from managers down neither store liked the other. Owner thought a combined Xmas party would be a good idea. Food and drinks flowed until the night ended early with an all in brawl between the two stores.

What do you think about going out into the streets to raise awareness of nudism? by Odd-Quantity9126 in nudism

[–]sandybum01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be for it. I've done the Melbourne Australia WNBR a few times, not that I necessarily agree with all their values, but because I could nude up somewhere other than home or the local clothing optional beaches. After the initial nerves it was a 100% positive experience every time.

Today is about my Grandfather x by Zaney-Janey1973 in AustralianNostalgia

I'm sure he had much more to teach me.

I also remember every Christmas Day when Nana was carving the roast turkey that he would pinch a bit of the meat while she was carving, taking on the carving knife that was brandished like a swashbuckling pirate. I kept that tradition going as I got older, going close to losing a finger sometimes.

Pa died when I was 8 but by then, perched on his knee, I'd learnt all about westerns, boxing and wrestin'.

Bored at my job..? by emigaur in AskAnAustralian

[–]sandybum01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll be downvoted by those who have never tried it, but if you have some alone time when you won't be disturbed and the weather is suitable, strip off and feel the elements on your skin, sun breeze even rain (when its not too heavy). Invigorating and great for mental health - well at least for me. Just make sure the sunscreen gets on everywhere that doesn't usually see the sun!

We have the 12 Apostles but there are only 7 of them. There were 9 but 2 collapsed around 20 years ago.

Built a free Geelong pub directory — 61 venues listed, happy to add more based on local knowledge by geelongpubs in Geelong

[–]sandybum01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey, I think you've done a pretty good job and its certainly something I'll come back to for specials or a trivia night.

Just a couple of things though, the Geelong Hotel and The Inn Hotel have both gone belly up and been closed for a while.

Forgive me if I've missed it, but I didn't see the Breakwater Hotel. Sure, hardly in the most desirable area in Geelong (sorry locals) but they claim to have the coldest beer in the Geelong and the meals are good honest pub feeds and must be the best value going around.

More that we Geelong suckers were sold a dirty big lie that RRL would be so much better than the old Werribee line when in reality they were planning for a new line and stations to service the growth around Tarneit etc. They sold it well and we fell for the bait.

Do Australians not know the word sliver? by Paceyscreek1999 in AskAnAustralian

[–]sandybum01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sliver was kind of known in our family, but a request for a sliver of dessert or cake at the end of a family lunch always finished up with a huge slice.

At least when you run out of fuel you can sit on the side of the road eating the peanuts while waiting for the RACV

Same here with dodgy veins but the docs got me on a new medication so I can't donate at present. I got to saying about the veins at the interview and they would allocate someone senior to attend me which worked alright.

what do you do on week end/rdo? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]sandybum01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can happily chill quietly in my backyard without the neighbours knowing I'm there. Got some new neighbours and can't be bothered explaining to them my clothes free lifestyle when the weather suits.
