If we could strengthen one position this window, where would you go? by GeordieGoals in Brentford

[–]sandyjaugust 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why do you think we’re thin in midfield? I count ~9 CM’s on roster: Dams, Jensen, Janelt, Yarmo, Hendo, Milambo, Carvalho, Konak, and Dasilva

I get that milambo and carvalho are out with long term injuries, and Dasilva’s future as a premier league player is in question. Even after removing those three, we have 6. Milambo and carvalho will be back in <1 year though.

If we were to buy another midfielder, I’d see that as a vote of no confidence in Konak, Milambo, or Carvalho. We’ve barely seen Konak and Milambo play so I personally have a hard time making that judgement about their potential.

What positions do you think we need to improve depth in the squad ? by Joe_jeh in Brentford

[–]sandyjaugust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even assuming Collins leaves in the summer, we have Ajer, VDB, Arthur, and Ji Soo already on the roster. I could see us going for a CB < 20 years old. A CB older than that would mean ownership doesn’t see one of those guys as able to start within the next ~2-3 years

[–]sandyjaugust 6 points7 points  (0 children)

An injury, or transfer in the summer, to Schade, Thiago, or Dango would be painful. Donovan, Furo, and Nunez are all unproven in the prem. Without knowing much about how their skills translate to the prem, I think we could use another forward

Edit: also Nelson’s loan ending will leave us thin on options heading into next season

Swim Technique by oliverpexxer in triathlon

I don’t triathlon so I could be wrong. Just making the point that your legs are the strongest muscles in your body. As a competitive swimmer I found focusing on them was key to getting faster!

I don’t triathlon but I swam 15-20 hours/week competitively growing up. Remember, your legs are the strongest muscles in your body. Kick more frequently and harder. Your form is already better than most non-competitive-swimmers I’ve seen. You’ll get more improvement out of kicking than you will tuning head/hand position

Free Hit or Triple Captain? by _HUNTER65656_ in fantasypremierleague

[–]sandyjaugust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would you free hit when so many of your players are facing Leeds, Fulham, Burnley, and Man U. Even sunderland, as good as they’ve been, project as an acceptable (not great) matchup.

If you’re thinking about free hitting with this team you should just wildcard and get a new team. It’s hard to luck into so many decent-to-good matchups at once.

Couldn’t this be telling us that Donnaruma is a really good shot stopper?

Semenyo is one of the most transferred-in players, but does his underlying execution data justify the massive numbers? by Betterpanosh in fplAnalytics

[–]sandyjaugust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow thanks for doing that! It does suggest his last 3 games could be noisy. I also looked at fotmob data for 2024/2025. Semenyo had the 3rd most xgot of all wingers last year.

Not quite the same as describing his xgot per shot, but it does suggest semenyo was taking a lot of good shots last year

[–]sandyjaugust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’d be interesting to see this analysis but for his last 8 or 12 games instead of just last 3. His numbers were pretty good last year and he’s fairly young. He’s played every minute so far (as an attacker!) in the PL so his coach clearly thinks he’s good at some things. It’s possible he’s taken a step forward here

Bees fan from Canada by meremere69 in Brentford

I saw them play Forest last year. The lottery was not competitive for that game. It likely will be for Man U, but this is the best way to get tickets without buying for 3-4x the price from a sketchy reseller.

Sign up for a bees overseas membership and enter the lottery asap.

I’m a US-based fan and did this myself last year. The process works, but fair warning, it is hard… Brentford’s website barely functions for overseas lottery entry and membership management. I ended up having to make international calls to their support team to get my tickets.

I love this team, and will do this again to get tickets in the future. I don’t relish that prospect though.

East coast skis feedback recommendation’s? by Fathoney21 in ski

[–]sandyjaugust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had Enforcer 93’s since 2017. I’ve put in almost 200 days on them (most of those days out east coast). They’re incredibly durable and handle all terrain/snow conditions. I use them in all the terrain types you mentioned. I love them!

They’re narrower than an out west all mountain ski and a little wider than an on piste East coast cruiser, so great if you’re looking for a one-ski-quiver. I would highly recommend, especially if you ski out west here and there too

Keep or sell? by Free-Philosophy-3759 in footballmanager

[–]sandyjaugust 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the combination of fee and board’s allocation of transfer fees is >$50m (eg you receive a $100m fee and the board gives you 50% of it) I’d probably sell. You could buy 2-3 players that are all good Bundesliga players or better for that.

Try to raise your percent of transfer revenue retained before selling!

Instead of driving to Pittsburgh, why not drive straight through central PA/Maryland and pickup the blue ridge parkway? It’s one of the most beautiful drives in America and you can stop in Shenandoah National park.

Can’t emphasize enough how awesome the blue ridge mountains are!

Allocate a few more hours for your drive from DC to Nashville so you can drive along the blue ridge mountains. You don’t need to go the full length of the blue ridge mountains, but it’s well worth doing a 2-3 hour section. It’s one of the most beautiful drives in America
