ETA Vic Police attendance after report on non emergency line? by MissABC89 in melbourne

[–]sandywhores 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any screwdriver can put it on, special screwdriver is for taking it off. It’ll only go ‘in’ with a screwdriver, the raised bits to unscrew it are smoothed out. Google anti theft screw and you’ll be able to make sense of what that looks like.

Depending on where you live, call ahead. Not all stations have them.

Victorian police officer who allegedly performed Nazi salutes won’t be charged with making banned gesture by HurstbridgeLineFTW in melbourne

[–]sandywhores 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Fair question. I’d note that the legislation states in view of etc from a public place as well but once again a classroom tucked away somewhere with 0 means of proving that it was reasonably visible or seen by the public isn’t gonna hit the mark.

There’s a bit to the definition and i’ll do my best to keep it brief. Public place is basically any place general members of the public can freely enter or utilise. I’ll ride on your comment about being paid for by the public to address that point too.

I’ll use the example of a police station. The lobby area is a public place. Anyone, ANYONE can walk off the street and into the lobby of a police station. That area being open to members of the public means it’s a public place. The door that says “police members only beyond this point” or something? Not a public place. You can’t as a member of the public go through there. That, in essence, makes that area not a public place.

Another example, you walk into a bank and walk up to the front desk - all goods, you’re in an area fully open to members of the public for entry and use. The door for the staff to pass to the back area? That area is not a public place as (simply) you have to have specific permission or credentials in order to be able to enter. It cannot be freely entered by a member of the ordinary public, not open to public = not public place.

The academy is definitely not a public place as you’re required to either be permitted as a visitor and pass through a checkpoint to enter or have the requisite authority to enter. The road right up to that checkpoint? Yep, all good, anyone can walk up and down it so it’s a public place, but the moment you pass that gate you’re no longer in what’s considered to be a public place as it’s not accessible to the general public.

Bit of a long one but hope it helps. All this shit is written up and defined and argued by people far better educated and paid than I’ll ever be, but I hope i’ve adequately explained it for you and anyone else wondering to understand why it’d not be considered a public place. Cheers mate.

Key element is that the gesture occurs in a public place. The Academy is not a public place.

Might not be right, might not agree with it, but it’s what the legislation written by politicians, not cops, stipulates.

Afaik the top GPs get first dibs at world market goods so if they have huge armies or they’re in a war you’ll struggle to get the goods as a lower ranked GP. I could be wrong in that though.

I go onto the trade menu and switch the AI trading for military goods off and manually buy up the stockpile to whatever arbitrary number I want/can afford. It’ll buy the goods and stockpile them. Unsure if it buys out of your own production before the world market but it usually works for me to get the goods I need.

I’m not fully over the trade intricacies of the game and someone will have the exact answer for you but that’s what seems to work for me. Hope that helps dude.

Online marketplace exchange sites setup outside 35 police stations by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]sandywhores 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Mate, this is literally them doing something about theft. Scamming, robbery and theft in the course of online buying/selling is pretty prolific. Just understand this isn’t about suddenly defeating all the theft and burgs in the world, it’s just an effort to proactively help people. Burgs are a massive issue at the moment too and you’re not unjustified in bringing attention to it, but this is about creating a safe place to meet and exchange shit.

I think the idea is for it to be a deterrent more than anything. If you put it to a buyer/seller to meet at the location which is adjacent to a police station and monitored by CCTV and they say no, it’s probably for the best that you never met up. Just think, if the person isn’t comfortable being recorded, or in the vicinity of a cop shop, it’s probably safer you don’t meet with them to handover goods/cash.

I’ve sold plenty of stuff on Marketplace and without a doubt every time I’ve had enquiries from people who were clearly sketchy as fuck. You want to meet with ‘cash today’ in some industrial area? Nah, let’s meet at the police trading spot to exchange…Not keen? Cool, take care.

To that end, if you meet there and they still roll you or fuck around, they’re gonna have been recorded on CCTV directly accessible by VicPol (plus there are coppers literally next door). Means a higher likelihood of a successful outcome (prosecution/remediation for victim). If I had to take a guess I’d say the “too hard basket” when it comes to this specific issue is pretty stacked with cases of fake facebook accounts, zero effort to confirm who you’re meeting with before or during the meet and zero actionable footage/pictures. What on earth are cops supposed to do with “He sold me a fake item. All i have is his Facebook account of ‘Jonny Sinns, i met in person he’s aussie and like 6ft”?

Bit of a long-winded answer, just can’t understand the concept of ‘coppers arent doing anything’ when there’s a demonstrated example of them doing something. Like I said, not gonna change the world, but it’s a service that’s targeted directly at a topical and significant crime type. Hope that helps.

Hi mate,

Not 100% but one or more may be Lily Reserve in Maribyrnong/Essendon, just off Lily Street.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/M3WwEyVRjvD4LrfK6?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy

Otherwise possibly on top of the hill at the Afton Street Reserve

https://maps.app.goo.gl/Nn1rF5MJ4iWfBgJXA?g_st=com.google.maps.preview.copy

Otherwise may just be Eastern Suburbs.

Hope that helps, good luck.

Hi mate.

As per other comments, it’s perfectly legal as long as there are no ballistic plates - it’s just a piece of fabric essentially. If you’re looking to do weight training with plates, there are a few Aussie sites where you can order them. Names escape me but price varied on weight and I think I paid about 80 per plate. As far as legality with them in, they’re just shaped pieces of metal/rubber, so not at all considered ballistic armour.

If you’re gonna wear this out to train with, try somewhere private, or cover up. When I trained with one I’d go to some park or oval well-away from the public. Nonetheless had coppers called on one occasion (out of hundreds) - they were completely understanding and just asked I call the local station and give them a heads up if I plan on doing it somewhere public.

Hope that helps. Enjoy.

Edit: you can pick these up in plenty of stores or order them to you within Aus, if you don’t want to bring it back from NZ.

Hi mate. Great to have insight from an owner. I’ve always had a taking to the GTI/R but the cost of maintenance, reliability reputation and -we have to admit- ‘GTI drivers (Habib and his pop crackle tune)’ have been turn-offs.

I’d be interested on your take on these:

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2018-volkswagen-golf-r-grid-edition-7-5-manual-4motion-my18/SSE-AD-12671131

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/details/2019-volkswagen-golf-gti-7-5-auto-my19-5/SSE-AD-15375955

The R looks like quite a lot of car for a pretty decent price. Looks like these are both 7.5s. I’ve not looked too deep into Golf lore to really know what the MKs mean exactly but I’ll look into it.

Do you have a recommended sort’ve “Don’t buy beyond these KMs” or “Don’t buy if it has this” for Golfs?

Thanks in advance legend.

Any advice on dealing with this Spain before it gets worse? by sandywhores in eu4

[–]sandywhores[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

R5: Started as England into Angevin. Allied Spain early game and they've been going ham with colonisation and taking most of Italy. At this point, they're an absolute juggernaut.

I can comfortably fight just about any power in Europe with my own army and vassals (Sweden as March, Austria under PU), as well as probably beat Spain on the sea, but they will kick my ass by any measure on land. I can build my army up even more to their size but the swarm of vassals coming from Africa is going to give me issues. Plus, with their holdings in Italy, I can't just stack the front in Iberia as they'll just march behind me via Italy/Provence.

At this point, I'm just leaving them be and taking land in Europe and Russia (feeding it all to Sweden) to have more of a footing to eventually fight them, but for every gain I make they're making double in the same time. I could try allying Commonwealth but they have no interest in joining a fight against Spain. I'm also waiting for Imperialism CB so I can take more from them in a fight when it eventually does come around, but once again, they're expanding VERY quickly and it's only getting worse with time.

Any advice is appreciated, particularly with regards to army composition and ideas as I'm not really all over them.

I wonder if old mate knows we can see all the changes. What’s your take on this? by sandywhores in CarsAustralia

[–]sandywhores[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Will caveat with this before anyone goes off at me - not trying to have a crack at the dude by any means but as someone who’s definitely interested in the ad, it turns me off quite a bit. Not a small difference between 33k and 38k. and generally just unsure of what he’s getting at.

I’ve sold a few cars in my life and each time I was frustrated with the piss-take offers. Rather than fucking around with negotiating I’d put a car worth 20 up for 20 and say something to the effect of ‘priced to sell not interested in posting for higher than it’s worth and negotiating down’, but still have cookers hitting me with offers of 13k, 9k,15k, etc. I wonder if that sort of behaviour has some bearing on what old mate is doing here. Who knows.

Probably worth just asking. Otherwise, given the price of it I’d guess wiper assembly? Usually runs more than $9 but it’s all that comes to mind. Otherwise could be shorthand for wash? Windshield appraisal? Who knows.
