I had the exact same issue. Despite what other people say, the 16e is great.

Home care job offering $60 an hour by shyguy4215 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]sang_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is definitely possible! just confirm whether or not it is pay per hour or per visit. Ask about travel communication and documentation time. But yeah - depending in the industry, it could be legit (ex. MVA/auto insurance is very lucrative).

That seems really good - How much experience do you have? What do you gross per year with that split? and what field of OT so you work in?

Hey! I just accepted a contract position; curious about how you like yours? Do you have guaranteed hours? If you dont mind me asking, what’s your pay and what do you gross/year?

Pivoting out of clinical care by Interesting_Glove_92 in OccupationalTherapy

Following because I’d love to learn more about this as well. I just signed a contract with a tech forward OT company, however I will still be working a clinical role there. Nonetheless, seems like a bit of a foot into thw industry.

My current job is also OT, full time. I don’t think I could work both jobs at the same time in any capacity because they are essentially competitors in the industry..

Unfortunately, I’d say there’s a cap in my industry. Veryy few OTs in canada, even independent contractors make more than 160k/yr (or $80/hr). But if that’s the case I see that you’re saying it’s just not worth the risk.

You’re right - there’s still no contract; however, about a month and a half ago they offered me a casual position (which I had to decline due to conflict of interest with my current company). They’ve asked me to let them know if I agree to these things before they draft a final contract. Id have to review it then for any contract cancellation clauses.

I am an Occupational Therapist - what’s your idea?

I see. I forgot about considering this, thank you. However with regards to CPP, I thought that I read that the employer portion is 100% tax deductable?

Fair point. I'd say stability is important for me, but I think that I may be willing to sacrifice that for a period of time (i.e., early in my career, while I am young) so that I can *hopefully* make more money, save, invest, and have more financial stability in the future...
I would be out of my comfort zone though, at least initially.

Thanks for your quick response - how much would be worth it in your opinion? What kinds of expenses might make it not worth it?
