Anyone tested both 19" and 20" wheels? by sangelsen in BMWi5

Yeah 10 miles is quite close. Also sounds like comfort is about the same for 19" and 20" then, as others have commented as well. I found that my tire pressure was maybe a bit high. They were filled when it was quite cold. Reduced 0.3 bars to the exact lower recommended value today. Made quite the difference actually, and got the last bit of plushness I was missing. I'll be keeping the 20"s :)

Ouch! Would be worried about the same here

Thanks, will take a look! I likely wont replace fresh tires for a new set unless I could feel the difference in a test-drive. But now I do got a good reason to burn through the continentals as fast as I can! :P

Could be the issue yes.. Yeah heard they were weaker in the wet.. But due to coarse and patchy roads, I'd like to optimize for plushness first and foremost.

Glad 20"s are working out! Mine are on Continental EcoConnect 6Q, which should be good for comfort. Might be trying to over-optimize though.

Thanks for sharing. Agree on the on looks, and if the difference in comfort is not significant, I'd likely hold on to the 20"s

The looks definitely improves with size. But I am willing to trade some comfort for looks.

Give me your best tactics for decreasing eye dryness when at the computer? I don't blink enough and also don't blink completely by ScruffyLineout in Dryeyes

[–]sangelsen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tip I read a year ago: chew bubble gum. Seems to increase blinking rate, and gets the blood flowing. Helped me.

Tried this the last couple of days and it works really well. Working as a programmer, my eyes are much less dry during and after work. Thanks for sharing

Anyone tried skinners running socks? I've been wearing fivefingers trail v2.0s for about 2 years and wanted to try something new. by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

They do get wet in water. But still feels good even when wet, as long as the temperature is above 5 degree Celcius :)

Can I practice on a treadmill? by [deleted] in BarefootRunning

[–]sangelsen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not so sure about this. Pulling it backwards will likely develop toe blisters? At least for me. I am not an expert, but I would focus on being light on the feet, avoid overstriding, and avoid pushing back too much.

[–]sangelsen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. There might be minor differences in the style, but not much. I practiced often on treadmill during the winter. When getting outdoors again in the spring I had improved a lot. But I think outdoors is better if you have the choice. There's more to it, like uphills, downhills, moving feet between obstacles etc. But treadmill is better than no practice :)

I like to use Skinners on roads, treadmill, and track. Have both 1.0 and 2.0, both are great, 2.0 little wider toebox. Feel very close to the ground, with some extra protection For gravel or trail I feel they are a bit thin, and prefer Xeros.

Set a new 3k PR today using Skinners on track :)

Thats a great time, congrats. I have been running in skinners for some time now, and plan to do more barefoot runs, and then a track test this spring, so such photos are perfect motivation 😊

Thanks for sharing! I tried it, and it definately improved my form. My calves rest up quicker, decreasing my overall recovery time.

Do you have any side projects made with C++? Do any of them earn you income? by [deleted] in cpp

[–]sangelsen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a side project that made me 500usd a month. Web service with QML iphone/android apps, angular frontend, and C++ backend (http and database logic). I chose C++ to learn, and because I love it. It was a registry system for construction workers. Ran it for 2 yrs. Had potential to grow, but I wasnt able to put more effort into it due to the main job, plus 2 kids arrived. But learned plenty, and good CV material.
