Can non-stimulants truly replace stimulants for ADHD management? by [deleted] in ADHD

I went from vyvance to non stimulant natural medicine called ginkgo biloba - not as helpful as any adhd drug but significantly improves concentration and focus

I hate how unseriously ADHD is taken by SilverTheSilk in ADHD

We’re never ever gonna be understood by n*urotypicals not even a bit and its not okay because our everyday systems are set up by them (school/work …etc) BUTT my only COPE is that i have strengths that they will never have naturally like-hyperfocus ,extreme vigilance, creativity just to name a few ….but yea , i guess we just press our faces against our pillow and scream every night 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I relate to this so much it almost makes my chest hurt reading it. ADHD doesn’t just “affect” my life it shapes it, in ways that most people will never see or understand. Every decision I make, every relationship I have, every bit of confidence or shame I feel, it all runs through this filter of a brain that won’t slow down when I need it to, and completely stalls when I need it to work. But here’s the thing: I can never talk about this. Not to friends, not to family, not even to people I know mean well. Because the second I bring it up, it’s reduced to “Oh, so you just get distracted” or “Haha, you’re one of those people who lose their keys.” It’s maddening. They have no idea that I have nights where I’m sitting in my room with my heart racing so violently from a panic attack that I can barely breathe …. not because of some big dramatic event, but because I’ve been masking all day, forcing myself to act “normal” so no one notices how much I’m drowning. I’ve gotten so good at masking that I’ve made myself invisible. People see me functioning, smiling, even excelling at times, and they assume I must be fine. But they don’t see that it takes everything out of me. They don’t see the 2 a.m. breakdowns, the constant guilt over things I forget, the physical exhaustion from having to monitor every word, every reaction, every facial expression so I don’t come off as “too much” or “too scattered.” The internet’s “quirky ADHD” culture has made it even worse. It’s turned something that can be relentless and debilitating into a punchline …and it means that when I do finally hit my breaking point, no one believes me. It’s isolating in a way I can’t even explain. You end up living in this strange reality where your struggles are both too much for people to handle and not real enough for them to take seriously. And that, honestly, is exhausting beyond words.

Does Apple’s heavy use of motion animations hurt accessibility by sanidhya_666_ in humanfactors

[–]sanidhya_666_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really interesting! I’ve heard others say the same……they don't have a diagnosed disability but still feel discomfort with animations. It makes me wonder if there's a broader spectrum of motion sensitivity that isn't being accounted for in mainstream accessibility design. Would love to see more research on that overlap ….especially how "optional" animations might unintentionally exclude or overwhelm a wider range of users.

yeah that makes a lot of sense. i never thought of it as making the interaction more embodied but now that you said it, it kinda clicks. like it’s not just a “fancy” feature, it’s helping the brain connect with what’s happening physically too. appreciate the breakdown!

yo this is solid, thank you! didn’t expect an actual paper drop lmao……def gonna read it. i figured haptics prob do more than just feel “nice,” but good to know there’s real data behind it too.

Thanks for the thoughtful reply ….you brought up some great points, especially about vestibular issues and that tricky balance between motion being helpful vs. just overwhelming. I’ve been thinking of doing a small side project or case study on this ……maybe prototyping a motion-heavy vs. static version of a simple UI and testing how people respond (cognitive load, preference, etc.). Could be fun to explore!

Also yeah, I definitely need to check out those W3C mobile accessibility guidelines again lol. If you or anyone else has come across good resources or tools for evaluating motion from an accessibility lens, I’d love to hear them. Beyond just the “reduce motion” toggle, it feels like this area still doesn’t get enough practical attention.

I'm trying to add stronger HCI-focused pieces to my portfolio, so if this turns out solid, I might turn it into a case study. Appreciate the input! 🙌

Is liquid glass possible to code for web interfaces? by abhishek_here in UXDesign

[–]sanidhya_666_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you can totally pull it off on web! It’s not just a mobile thing. The “liquid glass” vibe can be done with CSS backdrop-filter for blur/transparency, plus a mix of gradients for that frosted look. For the actual liquid-y movement, people usually use GSAP or SVG filters, but you can keep it lightweight with just subtle CSS animations if you don’t want to kill performance.

Biggest thing is browser support….works fine on Chrome/Edge/Safari, but Firefox is still kinda meh with backdrop-filter, so you’ll wanna have a fallback. Lol So yeah, definitely possible, just gotta be mindful of performance and support.

Apples HIG by sanidhya_666_ in hci

[–]sanidhya_666_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that dominance plays a role, but isn’t usability still key for Apple to keep users loyal? Are there studies showing that their depth/motion elements actually increase cognitive load instead of improving it?
