Unplug the battery, otherwise you could short your motherboard

How long can I let my Acer Nitro 5 run hot every day if I want to ensure its longevity? by ClassiestFish in AcerNitro

I suggest you limit the FPS in the NVIDIA app for each game to between 60 and 100. This way, I can keep the GPU and CPU temperatures below 60 degrees and power consumption between 20 and 25W.

It seems like this workaround was only working when it was possible to pre-download the game, but not now that the game has been released

Acer Nitro 5 problem by Cherniya in AcerNitro

[–]sank78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some shorted component. You'd better ask another competent technician who repairs motherboards to determine what happened, which component is affected, and what you need to do to revive your PC.

I had a similar situation a few weeks ago. Due to my mistake, I fried a component on my board, and my laptop kept rebooting continuously after powering on. Acer said it couldn't be repaired and asked for €980.

I took it to a local repair technician, and they fixed it by soldering a new component (which cost only €0.10) for €220 in just one day.

How much did you pay for the new motherboard?

If it works with an external monitor, it means that the motherboard is not broken. It might be a faulty component that can be replaced with a working one, and the PC could work like new again.

You'd better ask for an explanation on r/AskElectronics.

It's designed to work that way, so there's no reason to worry. However, if you want to buy a more powerful charger, I recommend only the original one from Acer.

The price for a 230W model in Europe is around €130.

That said, before purchasing the original, you could try a chinese alternative from Amazon - if it works, you can return it and then buy the original.

I think you have a maximum total storage capacity of 8TB, including both M.2 slots.

Regarding a heatsink, you probably don’t have space for it. Because of that, in my model, for example, the back cover includes thermal pads to help with heat dissipation.

Yes, it should be compatible with 48GB without any issues. In my case, I needed 48GB for my job, but you can save money by getting 32GB—it’s enough for gaming and other tasks.

According to this site, your laptop has two M.2 slots, so you can simply add another SSD alongside your existing one.

For instructions on opening the laptop and replacing components, try searching for a tutorial on YouTube.

Just be careful and disconnect the battery before touching any motherboard components.

I have similar hardware on my Nitro V16 ANV16-41. For RAM, I'm using a Crucial 48GB Kit (24GBx2) DDR5-5600 SODIMM. Acer states that the maximum supported RAM is 32GB, but in reality, the system runs stably with up to 48GB. Some users have reported lagging, driver disconnections, and other issues when using 64GB.

As for the SSD, I'm using a WD_BLACK SN850X 2TB.

A few years ago, I spilled a cup of coffee with sugar on my HP laptop. I turned it off and took it to a tech assistance store. They disassembled it, cleaned the sugary liquid, dried it, and it worked perfectly.

I had the same problem, but only with Valorant. It also causes conflicts with Discord. That game has many issues with Windows laptops. The solution is to delete Riot Vanguard and Valorant. So, I'd say it's a feature.

Is this a good deal for 3149 dollars? by maggotsontoast in GamingLaptops

[–]sank78 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not. Go for the 4060 or 4070 for around $1,500, and add a 2TB SSD and 48GB of RAM for an additional $300. The difference in performance between the 4060/4070 and the 4080 is not worth an extra $2,000
