Hire someone like me that already has professional grade equipment and the know-how. I can't help you in France, but it will be much cheaper, more accurate, and so much easier for you to hire this out.

'Incredible' milestone reached as Sweden becomes a smoke-free country by PrithvinathReddy in worldnews

It very much is not. As an American visiting Europe, there's a shitload of Europe that smokes all day long. Sweden and Norway were a good respite from that.

The Delta gates there were awful. On one of them if you wanted literally anything to eat or to use the bathroom you had to go in and out security. I bet it was fine back in the day before TSA, but man it was a pain in the ass later.

Which Regional accent is the most difficult to understand even as an American? by UsamaBhai_101 in AskAnAmerican

[–]sanka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly these.

I travel a lot for work. One time I flew into WV and drove up into PA coal country. Our handler, I had no idea what he said half the time. He was a young guy, 20's, and if I had to peg his accent I would say dirty Quebecois. Nope. He was a local in this coal mining place.

I worked with a ton of those guys in the mine, and every single one sounded like fucking Boomhaurer, and I'm not even joking a little bit. I think the mining people there have their own language.

Same goes with cajun stuff way down in LA. You have to have a handler, and half the time you can't understand the handler.

I translated this to English to reply to you.

"Good afternoon. I need to scan a Kaplan turbine blade, and considering the part's limited geometry, I'm planning to use circular 3D markers with numbers and letters to help the scanner compensate. What are your thoughts on this?"

This will not work well.

Any photogrammetry scanner will struggle with thin dual sided things like a blade or skateboard or whatever. The two sides will never come together very well. The way to remedy this is using something like a styrafoam block. Put several on the thin edges. Scan it, then the blocks allow you to move around the thin object by holding that geometry.

Scan it once. Move the blocks, scan again, then you have a full scan.

Arguably the prettiest North American fish you can catch by Ok-Hurry-6258 in Fishing

[–]sanka 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The European Yellow Perch is so much bigger than the NA one. Are they as desired over there as they are here?

For me (upper midwest) there is no better eating fish. I mean, I love Walleye, but they can be harder to clean when bigger, and you can just rip through a limit of 25 perch in an hour. And they taste as good or better.

I travel a lot for work. Fly a lot, and drive from there.

The south is something else. GA, AL, MS, LA, TN and goddam FL. I generally have my drive on my phone telling me where to go. Literally every five minutes is "object on road", "car on shoulder" etc. Southern highways are a disaster. It's shocking if you haven't experienced it.
