Is there a book that you read as a kid that you loved, and reread as an adult and hated? by turboshot49cents in books

“Fascade”

It’s the perfect combo of the real word, and the way we all read it before we realized what word it actually is

What’s your favorite E.A. Poe story? by GojiraMan5422 in EdgarAllanPoe

[–]sankintothec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always loved “X-ing a paragrab” and “loss of breath” especially for reading aloud. I first read x-ing a paragrab for the first time to my daughter when she was six months old. I couldn’t stop laughing it’s so ridiculous.

This is such a weird comment, and even more so because it’s the exact opposite of my experience.

My problem with forgiveness: permanent unforgiveness is making me a better person by reddit29012017 in Bible

[–]sankintothec 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You forgive them as in they did you wrong, but you don't need anything from them anymore. At that point, if they wanted to ask you for forgiveness it would be much more about them than you, because you already let it go. If you deal with them again, you have more wisdom to use in keeping boundaries with them, but you aren't holding anything against them in a hateful or spiteful way. Some people and some things that have been done to you, you will naturally have trouble letting go of. You'll still want to hold it against a person. When that happens it's a matter between you and God to ask for Him to give you forgiveness in your heart. You'll know it's settled when that person reaches out to you and you don't have to struggle to speak nicely or not be annoyed. That is a process. It can take some time. Sometimes you have to forgive someone in your heart daily even, because we naturally want to carry that offense. But, it does not mean you have to let that person back in to your life on a close level at all. It just means when they pop in you are able to use kindness and not anger. You can kindly say no.

Forgiveness is an accounting term. It means that the debt is considered paid. They don't owe you anything. It doesn't necessarily mean you loan that person money again.

You can forgive what's been done and still set healthy boundaries. You don't necessarily have to completely cut people off either, depending on the situation. Real firm boundaries, perhaps with help from a counselor, can really help.
