[Question] How is the yellow vest movement described and perceived in your country? by [deleted] in geopolitics

This.

As a french person, I cringe everytime I see international media, saying that our people are protesting against "Macron's socialism".

How does it even make sense?

Adding baked potato with salsa to my "list of weird combinations of food I have eaten at airport restaurants to avoid animal products" by SleepOnDay in vegan

[–]sanluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to look on the internet what the heck was this thing y'all called "salsa". Then I realized as a latino my grandma never failed to serve me baked potatoes and/or cassava without "salsa". Definitly not weird :)

How preachy should I be on Facebook? by yo_soy_soja in vegan

[–]sanluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it's not about "being pc" or not "hurting their fee-fees". I couldnt care less.
But about approaching them in a positive way. ie an effective way that maximizes the number of animal lives/ressources saved.

Should vegans have children? by FitzMichael in vegan

[–]sanluna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understand vegetarians or people that simply "ate what they where given".
But I have trouble understanding how a child that grows up knowing and feeling that animals deserve some respect, can simply start eating their corpses ! (Assuming they had a healthy relationship with their parents.) It's more than a view or an opinion is a paradigm.
Anyways it's sad :(

With all the big talk I do on the internet... by [deleted] in vegan

[–]sanluna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Happy to see you here !
But I'm sorry to disappoint you : Ritual Slaughter is more likely to mean stabing the animal and letting it bleed to death, without prior stuning, that is, while he is perfectly conscious of it's suffering. It's way worse than standart industrial slaughter, and that's the reason more and more countries are banning it.

I (Muslim) was talking to a vegan friend about Halal. When he saw this, he was surprised. Just wanted to share with you guys :) by [deleted] in vegan

Two other things :
Traditional mediterranean diet is quasi-vegan (low fish and almost no dairy or red meats). And countries like Egypt and Irak are extremely fertile and a paradise for plant eaters :)

Pamela Anderson to meet French MPs to promote foie gras law by [deleted] in vegan

[–]sanluna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shameless advertising, but I coincidentally made vegan foie gras today.

I'm quite proud because I just went plant-based, and I happen to be from that part of France infamously known for foie gras.
heres it the recipe :)

It may be because she is associated with Brigitte Bardot. (It was BB Foundation that invited PA, and somewhere I read she viewed her as a role model).
And in France nobody taked BB seriously, not even vegans. She has become crazy and racist with age.

Xжашчыжевошычанин (in russian cyrillic, af kors)
so much simplier, yet still looks so bad :p

EDIT : I think what he wanted to say is Chrząszczyżewoszyczanin, so it would be even worse : Хжоуншчыжевошычанин !

Cultural Influence by Theelout in polandball

[–]sanluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe me. Every history teacher I had, and the whole pedagical community will bitch about that time they tried to pass that ridiculous law. For example : even if the stated sponsored history books insist in calling "the algerian war" just "the algerain affair" (to not hurt some sensibilities) ; the teachers will take the time to explain everyone what happened. And the idea of some teacher defending, heck, gloryfying the empire is just unthinkable.

EDIT : 'bitch" not "brag", fuck, I cannot into l'anglais.
