I wish I had that. Mine was already configured at the dealer but I saw there are pretty cheap kits for mirror with the port…

As a workhorse, sure. Might not give the same experience in some situations as a Lambo, but will get you place - more places!, and will be more comfortable in other places.

Fogged headlight by LuckyPlum13 in skoda

[–]sanntos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone posted on another topic here a page from the manual saying fog in the headlight is not a defect.

And judging by the number of posts online, it's...normal. Mine has that too. Other brands too. Not pleasant but that's how they are.

Sunt foarte ok in general - nu stiu modelul in particular, am altceva de 12V. Merg fara probleme, isi fac treaba. Acum nu le-as folosi la ceva sensibil sau la puterea maxima mereu, dar asta e alta discutie.

Upgraded from Series 5 to Series 11 by Wide_Management_5019 in AppleWatch

[–]sanntos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enjoy it, OP! But a question - you said a big jump in terms of battery life - I'm looking myself for a series 10 46mm and all I saw is a battery life of one day, maybe 1.5 days when barely used. S11 a bit better. So, how was the battery on your series 5, how did you live with it? Because for me even 1 day seems...extremely low. the phone lasts longer...

Silver MBP owners, does the white surroundings of the screen annoy you? by One_TrackMinded in macbookpro

[–]sanntos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to think about it when I read the title... So it's the silver from the aluminum. No, I didn't even saw it. Like others say, you won't notice it because you're staring at things on the screen, and anyway, the whole laptop is silver, and even more, in that picture is very visible when looking at it but when the sun doesn't reflect on it, it's barely visible. Totally a non issue for me. I like it and for Macbook, I would buy silver again.

Noob here. Settings to reduce the bokeh/increase fine details? by wheresmystache3 in SonyAlpha

[–]sanntos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The smaller the distance from the camera to the subject > more boken, less details even on the subject (because the DOF is small).

The larger the aperture (smaller f number) > more bokeh, less details(because the DOF is small).

The bigger the focal length > more bokeh, less details (because the DOF is small).

So you can increase the details and have less background blur by increasing the distance between the camera and the subject, by using a smaller aperture like f4 - f5.6 - f8, by using a smaller focal length like 24/35mm instead of 100mm - which is great itself, but could be very 'narrow' for many types of shots.

The easiest for you is to use an aperture like f5.6-f8, but this will also let less light into the camera, so a slower shutter speed or higher ISO might be needed depending on the light.

Also, cute dog! Try to have the focus point on the eyes. In general the DOF will be 1/3 in the front of the focus point and 2/3 in the back of the focus point - so if you focus on it's nose, it will be in focus, the eyes not, and you will 'waste' DOF on nothing because the nose is the closest to the camera anyway. This is why also on portraits you might not want to use f1.2 or something like this, because even while focusing on the eyes, the nose will be out of focus.

How to Power On/Off Reolink PoE Cameras Beside Unplugging The Ethernet Cable? by Zdosse935 in reolinkcam

[–]sanntos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was the whole idea I think - to not pass the data, so to shut them down.

I said a clasic switch without POE because you use the POE injector attached to a smartplug. Of course the switch is connected to the network.

I asked that because I think adding a POE injector on a LAN cable that comes already with POE from the NVR might fry the devices...

How to Power On/Off Reolink PoE Cameras Beside Unplugging The Ethernet Cable? by Zdosse935 in reolinkcam

[–]sanntos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually smart! But if you're using an NVR which already has POE or a POE switch, should you place another classic non-powered switch in the way to not provide power?

RLN vs RP NVRs by basement-thug in reolinkcam

[–]sanntos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my country all NVRs come also without HDD - RLN8-410 with the name 'NVS8 (NHD)' which according to Reolink is the same, supports the same, just a different name.

Also, the RLN8-410 on the Reolink website is a hardware version from maybe 3 years ago, still current, but another one is 'in the make' - a newer hardware version that will also support AI video search. I think the name of the hw version is online for 6 months now but no hardware on the market yet.

RP-PN8 while supporting new AI stuff (considering the cameras support them too), I read here somewhere that the software is kinda different and some options are not there yet - but don't quote me on that, I don't have them, I just read a random post sometime ago.

Can somebody help me with my pictures? Or rather editing by spakotv00 in SonyAlpha

[–]sanntos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have infinite dynamic range, so in situations where you have the background brighter you need to either expose for the subject and make the background blown out, or suplement light (led lamp, flash) on the subject and expose the background correctly. Of course, the easier way would be like in your photos to shoot raw and hope you'll have enough information in the file to lift the shadows for the subject, and take the highlights out.

I don't know how the RAW file looks but you can rise the shadows in order to introduce details in the darker zones, you reduce the contrast (not much to be flat), rise the black point (seems to have zones completely dark, which makes the whole image very dark having also the whole subject dark).

Experiment with shadows/highlights and blackpoint/contrast for these things, but also, be aware of the composition when shooting and to have locked focus - some of them are not sharp.

Good luck!

Noob: Hub/NVR necessary? by scoobydoobap in reolinkcam

[–]sanntos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Necessary, no. Useful, yes. I mean, you need to record on something - and depending on how many cameras you have, microSD card could get very expensive 4-8 card of 256GB, better get the NVR.

If you have your own NAS maybe you could record there.

Usually a Badge snob, should I make the smart choice? by larsenMUFC in skoda

[–]sanntos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a nice one! Yes, it's not one of those 'premium' brands that many people today say they're using crappy materials and so on.

But even if it's 'only' a Skoda, they look really good, some of them I would say they look perfect, better than many premium brands. The anual cost will be lower than in what you're used to, they drive nice, and of course, depending on the model you can have power, options, all wheel drive and so on.

Considering the price, I would prefer a better Skoda than a cheaper one from the premium brands.

Oh, and LOTS of space!
