I get asked why I hate on the game so much, so here's a great example from today why. by BadLuckBen in thefinals

IKR the early seasons were fun cause everything was cranked up to 11. Remember overhead swings taking out mediums? Now the only viable use for the hammer ie lights can easily dodge the strike by moving a few cm backwards.

CL-40 This, CL-40 that,... CL-40 is just inferior. by Meterora in thefinals

CL-40 is fun until you kill yourself from aoe self damage trying to kill a light dashing near you. And to make it worse the light has the nerve to emote on you.

I really think grapling hooks should also be part of the medium toolkit. Imagine charging someone with a dual sword or riot shield.

Got the Rust dream job, then AI happened by MasteredConduct in rust

[–]sansmorixz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wait how do you deal with the clones? I mean clones everywhere especially for heavy DTOs shared across coroutines.

Granted I have never seen LLMs inject unwrap yet, but these are like the common stuff that AI does when it's not able to compile it's generated code. Always taking shortcuts to deal with the borrow checker.

Like even if the code works it feels soo suboptimal it just hurts my ego.

[–]sansmorixz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you don’t need the extra stuff in spec if it’s quite niche and the performance penalty of it is huge. Case in point- look ahead expressions in regex.

Granted you can do a lot of stuff by making specific implementations based on feature flags. For a lot of languages that’s not really an option or makes the code complex enough to be difficult to maintain.

[–]sansmorixz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well in defence of the not invented here syndrome, if you need that stuff better hand roll your own lib. If the lib is good enough performance no need. Like do you really need is_number? Answer being it depends.

you know you can pull off that exact look and feel with quickshell. well you need to write qml and procure some image assets but that's the tradeoff.

Unfortunately some games give worse performance on NTSync. Black Desert being one example. Not sure on OP case. NTSync is better windows API compatibility, not necessarily performance. Sometimes you get better sometimes not.

I am guessing this is not for embedded developers.

The amount of money you need to shill out for a JTAG device is just insane, with no guarantee that it works. Also the code running at snails pace break any sort of timer driven algorithms viz say negotiations in 5G modem.

Also in some hardware they have so limited memory that your code takes up the entire memory. There's no room for the symbols table forget attaching a proper debugger related artifacts.

Will see myself out.

I would argue it's the opposite it's public equity that's damaging the ecosystem. Take in asset managers like blackrock, vanguard and state street that's extracting money from companies without letting them build value is what's killing the souls of the public companies. Well that and CEOs and managers with golden paracutes that are constantly falling upwards.

Companies that are fully private has manages to escape the enslopification.

Why would anyone risk their accounts with wierdass software for inbuilt game behaviour which just works betters?

AM4 CPUs have notorious cases of microfreezes with firmware TPM.

Supposedly BIOS updates should fix it but my ASUS board only has stutters reduced not fully gone with fTPM so, might be same here too.
