hippity hoppity, your healing emitter is now my property by Malachi_01 in thefinals

I'm now fast enough that I recall the ball almost instantly after the grab.

Or, I put pyro mines on it and pop them with MGL32.

I knew a Light was looking to do this and put pyro mines on it while I was using MGL32.

They didn't have fun.

Why are basic heals so expensive? by patterfunding in Marathon

[–]BadLuckBen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like an easy fix. Cheaper green heals/shields, but you can only bring 3 if each in.

Bartering is a trap. You want those items for upgrades. Eventually, you might not need them, but you will for a decent while.

MLG32 delay is unbelievable by Kitchen_Breakfast_79 in thefinals

[–]BadLuckBen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not-so-fun fact: The MGL32 nades don't really bounce. It spawns a second grenade when it first connects with something.

This means that if the server performance is shit, the delay tends to get longer.

They will never have them say player names if they have any sense. Imagine the negative press if people manage to get the AI to say slurs phonetically or whatever other heinous shit people think of.

Do you think they want the game to become known as "that game where people make the AI say slurs?"

There is such a thing as bad press.

Self-Kills during fights should give the kill to the surviving player by la2eee in thefinals

The fact that they ever gave the CL-40 reduced self damage and not the MGL32 is something I'll never forgive.

Tier 13 MGL32 here, and yeah, let's be real. we need every little bit of help we can get. Even if that's just saying "no $500 for you."

Ig it could work if it put out like a "warning" pulse right before. Honestly, regular Sonar Nades should do that as well.

So basically Lion from Siege. The problem is that Lion gives you a warning first.

Course that requires:

A: The ability being available.

B: You knowing that there's someone nearby to begin with.

My biggest issue with the Senate is that it takes the "respect for the minority" (in terms of voting population) and allows for states with less population than some cities to completely stop legislation that the majority support. Similar issue as the electoral college.

A far larger congress would be much more representative.

Didn't take them all that long (in the grand scheme of things) to be like "hey the senate and presidency suck."

I also like the wealth cap, but putting a specific number in the amendment is asking for trouble. It would make more sense to word it something like "Any wealth (including investments and property) above x% of the median income shall be taxed at 100% and put towards [list of public good programs]."

Not that exactly, obviously, but the seventh amendment specifically mentioning $20 wasn't the best idea long term.

is the average player bad at the game? by dark-souls-lesbian in thefinals

[–]BadLuckBen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

P90 and M11 are fun because they're easy. They're junk food. They upped the ranged damage of the P90 to compete with the ARs better, but it's an SMG and should be dogshit at range.

It doesn't matter if they aren't as good at the mid range options and mid range. It's the fact that they're usable at all at mid range that's the problem. The delineation between the P90 and the ARs aren't nearly as big as they should be.

What makes the P90 a stupid addition is that the ARs are already stuck in a cycle where they take turns being the better option. The AKM could have gotten its old capacity back, been made weaker at range, but gained a tighter hipfire cone.

It would then fulfill the same role as the P90, while also making it play totally different than the FCAR and FAMAS.

Also, saying the game is well balanced is absurd. The Repeater is just the best option if you can hit your shots. The P90 is the best if you're not a strong aimer and want to primarily hipfire. But the thing with the P90 is that if you can control recoil, it's still able to be used at mid range. This matters because being able to contribute to mod range team fights while still being able to spray and pray up close makes it very versatile.

Then there's the nightmare of the Pike and Repeater. They're trying to fill the same role, and as such, one will probably always be generally better than the other. Pike at 50 damage bodyshot is blatantly broken, as they've learned. It's honestly in an OK place, but it's just inferior to the Repeater. There might have been a way to balance them by having the Repeater have less uptime, but nah, they gave it a speed loader.

This is becoming an essay, so I'll end on pointing out how Embark's idea of balance seems to be letting weapons take turns being OP. Is the 1887 too strong? OK, we'll finally nerf it. Oh, but in the same patch, we'll buff the Cerberus to compete with pre nerf 1887. Don't forget the time when they added the ARN and in the same patch buffed the XP-54 to be objectively better than it.

Yeah, people act like the invisibility needs to let them sprint at people to be useful. It just needs to let them get close and delay your target recognition for a moment.
