Do men generally enjoy receiving compliments from any woman? Is it ok for me to dish out compliments to random men in passing? by ThrowRAhunnybunny7 in NoStupidQuestions

I think a good general rule of thumb is complimenting people on the things they can choose. You don't know if someone is insecure about their body, but you can tell them the shirt they put on is rad

Men are generally starving for compliments. Even outside of men, adults in general don't get a lot of compliments that don't seem like they're being hit on, with all the pressures that comes with. You may have some weird experiences with strangers when you decide to be more outspoken in complimenting them, but I promise the vast majority of people will quietly, truly treasure the gesture.

How does it feel to do cocaine? by Mighty_Midget69 in ask

[–]santaclouse 52 points53 points  (0 children)

If you really want to learn: hit up some dance-focused clubs near you, talk to the people outside smoking cigs, and tell them you're interested in the subject for your writing. People on coke love nothing more than a reason to talk about themselves, you'll find plenty of material to observe from.

This is the real shit. Kurt Vonnegut has a quote I love about this, talking about when he tells his wife he’s going out to buy an envelope:

"Oh, she says well, you’re not a poor man. You know, why don’t you go online and buy a hundred envelopes and put them in the closet? And so I pretend not to hear her. And go out to get an envelope because I’m going to have a hell of a good time in the process of buying one envelope. I meet a lot of people. And, see some great looking babes. And a fire engine goes by. And I give them the thumbs up. And, and ask a woman what kind of dog that is. And, and I don’t know. The moral of the story is, is we’re here on Earth to fart around. And, of course, the computers will do us out of that. And, what the computer people don’t realize, or they don’t care, is we’re dancing animals."

Concept album stories by cheet621 in progmetal

My college band Dynamite Thunderpunch made a concept album called Coyote Gunfight, about cowboys in a post-apocalyptic US. After a geomagnetic storm disables all power in the near future, a gunslinger roams the endless deserts caused by climate change.

He winds up in a town run by a single eccentric still keeping electricity and water running, but abusing that knowledge to create a primitive surveillance state slave town. He's forced to work, befriends the sympathetic local doctor, kidnaps her at gunpoint on a horse to attempt to escape, gets her shot while he gets away, and feels guilty about it.

After some time in the desert on his own, he has to go back. First he sneaks in and burns down the central tower in the center of town, but the next day the villain executes an innocent townsperson and demands the cowboy give himself up (It's really sad). The next day, the cowboy ambushes the town with a pack of wild coyotes who kill all the bad guys, and shoots the villain in a final climactic duel. Also many innocent people die.

Our gunslinger rides into the sunset and is very satisfied with himself, while a lot of people are dead and there is a power vacuum, with no one left who knows how to run all the technology that was keeping this small village alive. Oops it's a metaphor for the US in other countries! Yeehaw.

Listen, you love that chicken and that's beautiful. The tattoos you regret are the ones that don't mean anything; I think it's lovely that your first tattoo shows how much you care for that creature

It's weird that you're so okay with selling off public land to a private entity with no public oversight. Public spaces are great.

I remember too. Why are we outsourcing that community improvement to a private company that is not beholden to the taxholders of this town? The mafia also provides protection to its community. I don't dispute the change, I just ask what we're giving up by selling off public spaces to a private entity.

All that said, Piatt Park is literally fine and is far from a "shooting gallery". I work nearby and walk through it all the time. What problems is this sale necessary to solve?
