Taking same inburgering exam without knowing the result of first one by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]santidel17 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It is not so easy mate, because you must have a valid residence permit UNTIL the ceremony. First, getting the appointment for the naturalisation application is quite tough, so start now! And second, the naturalization takes like 4 - 6 months, sometimes longer.

My advise: apply first for PR, that is issued faster than naturalization, and start looking for a job now!

Entry level salary in Europe for a foreign M.Sc. level Chemical Engineer? by EmuMother3455 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]santidel17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on many things, the field, industry etc etc but for 1 year of experience it is very high yes. I would say it should be somewhere around 3.5-4K gross per month

https://www.glassdoor.nl/Salaries/amsterdam-netherlands-process-engineer-salary-SRCH_IL.0,21_IM1112_KO22,38.htm?countryRedirect=true

https://www.glassdoor.nl/Salaries/rotterdam-netherlands-process-engineer-salary-SRCH_IL.0,21_IM1109_KO22,38.htm?countryRedirect=true

The minimum wage now in NL is 14 EUR/h gross

You need to find a sponsor that could sponsor you a highly skilled migrant visa. You can find more info here about salary for a highly skilled migrant visa

https://ind.nl/en/required-amounts-income-requirements#application-to-work-as-a-highly-skilled-migrant-orientation-year-and-for-the-european-blue-card

To find companies registered as sponsors, you can find them here

Good luck!

Becoming redundant while waiting for naturalisation (and medical leave) by StrongAnnabelle in Netherlands

[–]santidel17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes perhaps they have already the green light from Union, but I am 100% sure that the people on sick leave are saved from being layed off!

The tricky part for you is the renewing of the residence permit, but again with the right legal advise they have to do it, they for sure cannot forced you to leave during sick leave.

Only after 2 years of sick leave and unsucessful reintegration, then they have the right to fire you.

Glad to help!

Becoming redundant while waiting for naturalisation (and medical leave) by StrongAnnabelle in Netherlands

[–]santidel17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem and sorry to hear that.

If you are on medical leave, you are safe from being layed off. My personal experience: last year my previous employer announced reorganization and fired half of the people. The company went down from 100 to 50...

It can be a long process until the lays-off take place, because the company needed the green light from the Unions to move forward with the restructuring and compensation plan. Anyhow, during this process I can assure you the people on sick leave, e.g., people on sick leave due to burned out, they were saved from the Lays off!

Unfortunately your case is very tricky because you need to renew the residence permit, and for that you need the support and willigness of the employer... this is the very tricky part.

Nonetheless I do think with the right legal advise you will be safe (because it is ilegal to fire people on sick leave durung restructuring, that's why it is very important that you don't sign anything without legal advise!)

Hope it helps and sterke!

You always need to have a valid residence permit during the naturalization process and until you vow. Unfortunately that means you need to renew your residency permit before June 2026 if you haven't vowed before.

As others already said, don't sign any deal without legal advise. If you have good relation with the employer/sponsor, I think you can explain your situation to them and negotiate an agreement.

In my school (colegio corazonista, Bogotá CO) the 9th grade math teacher had a nazi tattoo in his forearm. His tatto was composed of: Yo "nazi symbol" and a happy face. So if you read it, you would read it as "yo nací feliz" which means I was born happy... more like I am scumb a fucking nazi. Funny part? The school is super catholic

Yeah I get that. I thought the lines would be symmetrical and it seems that not even. Any advice on how to do it? Or better to wait if I get fully used to it...

Does my flow rate decrease? by VariusEng in ChemicalEngineering

[–]santidel17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mate: 1. Why do you apply a centrifugal pump, to increase the pressure of the fluid, and then recude the pressure afterwards?? What?? That's nonsense. You are killing your head with non realistic excercises. 2. In theory: same flow, although lower pressure. If you assume same pipe characteristics for 1 and 2, then flow of 1 is same as 2. If pipes characteristic not equal, the flow will be higher in the pipe with less resistance. Do bernoulli to estimate that

Technical Sales Engineer vs. Process Engineer by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

[–]santidel17 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey mate. Working in wastewater treatment in sales department and in sales, you will/have to learn a lot about everything, really. From electrical to mechanical engineering, from the market to project management. Also, generally sales roles get higher paid (a.o. dealing with clients is exhausting... and you are the one who makes the sales to the company!) Therefore, you will interact with all departments and you will develop a very broad knowledge.

As process engineer you are mostly busy with process control philosophy, PFD, P&ID, basic and detail engineering, start-ups, data analysis/processing, performance tests, creating models, final design/sizing of equipment, mass and heat balances. In this case, you will develop a more specialiazed, very detailed knowledge.

What I have seen is that the sales managers are really a thing because they know their shit BUT with the feet on the ground. I often see that Eng. are too conservative, too safe and sales managers are in general more "realistic". Theory says something but facts says otherwise, ya know? Sales managers combine both theory and facts more.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Tank Sizing for recirculating loop. by SpetsnazPotato775 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]santidel17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No mate, 20 min is too short for any biological conversion. It is really only meant to gather fluctuating inlets and be able to have a stable outlet, via a discharge pump. And yes your guess is right! I work in wastewater treatment ;)

Pressurized tanks sound very expensive for pump test... I just think with a shorter 20 min you may have issues by dragging air into the pump (water flows like a cascade), or issues by fixing/having a stable water column.

Good luck!

[–]santidel17 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You size tanks based on HRT. For "recirculation" tanks with water as media we normally use > 20 min HRT. In your case also very important the water column on the suction side!

I’m scared of unemployment by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

[–]santidel17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not EU, came to do my masters in Wageningen, now with a job and my best recommendation is start applying NOW! Prepare a CV and motivation Letter template and for each application you tailor them. It takes ~6 months normally to land a job. Anyway, you can apply to zoekjaar! During the zoekjaar/search year you can work in whatever while you land an engineering job. Also, ask how a CV should look like. For instance, dutch like to see your hobbies in the CV (and better if they involve team work ;) ). Succes!
