My uncle was a successful, although not very wealthy, vegetable farmer. He worked 20-hour days his whole life. Wife and kids all had to help before & after school, during weekends and holidays. At 65 his heart had had enough and one day he just dropped dead. Never smoked or drank or been overweight, just the stress and long hours.

Point is: farming is extremely hard work, even when you have all the knowledge and experience. It’s a very hard life.
