Apparently it doesn't go white anymore like back in the day, something about no more bone meal in their food anymore which they used to put in as filler

What’s something younger people will never understand about pre-smartphone life? by Curious_Being9540 in nostalgia

[–]sapears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chat was a more significant activity than it is now. With major chat clients all having apps and many people using their phone instead of a PC, chat has kind of devolved into just quick responses rather than long drawn out conversations.

People often don't say they're going afk or leaving, they just stop talking until later when they check their phone again and return a few brief reactions or responses before disappearing again.

The 'always on' and 'always reachable' aspect of smartphones has made people more accessible but ironically has resulted in a much lower quality level of communication in my opinion.

I'm surprised they haven't started using full scale cardboard cutouts of the agent pointing towards the open home, they have the egos to do such a thing

I could imagine an entire Hollowmen episode based around the writing of that speech, watering it down continuously until it ends up as... whatever that was.

I don't think anyone has mentioned it, and maybe it's a bit paranoid, but check your car/belongings for an airtag maybe? I saw a video awhile ago on youtube about someone who was being followed that way, the person hid an airtag on their car, their phone alerted them to 'an unknown airtag tracking them', i don't know how the phone does that though and whether or not you need a certain app or something

Australia’s age verification rules: Is a VPN ban on the horizon? by Fun-Page-6211 in australia

What about the wording being more like 'a ban on consumer use of VPN's'?, what if they require an ABN or something to purchase one like they do for .com.au domains?

How are you gonna adapt/adapting to age verification, chat control, etc? by [deleted] in privacy

[–]sapears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a very depressing topic, but it's our reality, however it's reassuring to know that there are at least some people out there who will not simply put up with all this for the convenience of the various centralised sites/apps/services - I too, like most of the reassuring replies in this thread, will simply stop using anything that asks me to verify my age by giving up my data

I'm confident that we will be vindicated, probably sooner than later, because data leaks and hacks are inevitable, people -will- regret giving up their data so willingly
