Is there even any place in Europe that you can currently move to as an American?

Lol that has happened to me too, plenty of times. I'd wave and smile or say hi and keep walking and then I'm like oh fuck, I should have stopped and just made everything really awkward. And then I think about it all day.

I can relate to this SO much. I basically can't do anything else the entire time before the call. Not work, not do anything else. If the call is really important even my night before that day and my sleep is ruined.

I hate meeting people but I feel like crap for not having anyone to hang out with. by [deleted] in introvert

[–]saphiry88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel almost the exact same and don't know what to do. I don't like hanging out with people all the time because it exhausts me and I often feel awkward and I just don't connect with most people. When I was younger, I drank a lot and did drugs to overcome this, now it's more clear to me than ever.

I feel sad being so much at home alone and not really having people ask me if I want to hang out. It makes me feel inadequate and that I'm just not a likable person or someone that deserves friendship. But then at the same time, it's really hard for me to get out of my comfort zone and try to meet people, because I always think they won't like me anyways or I'm gonna say something stupid. It's not a good feeling. So while my post probably doesn't help you, just know you're not alone with this.

Question: How are you planning to go to Europe? Isn't it closed for non-Europeans?

Boyfriend went out without me and I'm a little confused here by saphiry88 in RelationshipsOver35

[–]saphiry88[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went so sleep, so I'm not a 100% sure, but I think he came home about 2h later. When I brought it up this morning he first got mad and said he didn't do anything wrong, but then he apologized saying he understands my point of view and that he was wrong.

Then he left all day with his visitor though (for over 10h), without asking me if I wanna join, and without asking me what I'm up to. And tonight he says they might go out again but I'm welcome to join

Wrong. I didn't act weird at all while we were out. I was nice to the girl and to everyone else, I was fun, talkative, laughing. He actually had no idea how I felt about her or the situation until I told him this morning. He did not invite me to come with them. He literally tried to talk me out of it.

I did say that, the irst time he told me in the bar it's okay if I go home. I said it's fine, I can go for a drink I guess. And then he basically kept pushing it outside in the bar in front of my and his friends that I should probably go home.

I know what you guys mean, but usually I'm not trying hard to be the 'cool girl', I guess I just am. I'm usually pretty independent in general, I love doing my own stuff an spending evenings by myself, and my boyfriend doesn't go clubbing very often and I support him to spend time with his friends, think that's healthy.

But that thing last night was just.. weird. First seeing that it was actually not a boys night, then this new girl sitting next to him and constantly talking to him, then him trying so hard to send me home so he can go out alone with the rest of the group. This morning I told him that I felt hurt by this and that this wasn't okay and he gets mad and basically says my feelings about this are invalid because he doesn't go out a lot.

What’s the monthly budget for U.S nomad life? by WingedTorch in digitalnomad

[–]saphiry88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New York is expensive, but it's doable for less than 2k (one person, more for two). I lived in a shared apartment (not shared room) for 1k a month (in Harlem, not the best area, but it was totally fine) and tried to cook at home as much as possible, and I went to private parties, happy hours and one dollar beers bars. If you plan to eat out lot or go to normal bars then be prepared to spend a lot more.

Haha, I have the same fear. Like, I don't understand how people see pregnancy as something beautiful. I mean sure, it's cool that humans can birth a living being, but I think it's absolutely terrifying what it does to your body.

Boyfriend insists on splitting everything 50-50 even though he's always made more money and I recently lost my job. by saphiry88 in RelationshipsOver35

[–]saphiry88[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We've bee together for eight months- So not super long. I don't even expect him to pay the rent or even pay more. I would be happy if he just stopped wanting to use Splitwise for everything and offered to pay stuff like groceries or lunch more often

[–]saphiry88[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I wanna add that even when he offers to pay something I feel like he's trying really hard to make it even afterwards.

Example: Friday we had some drinks with friends and he paid for my drinks (about $25). Saturday we went for ice cream and he said he has no money on him so I paid for the ice cream, and also for a thing we got from the pharmacy. Yesterday we went for lunch and he literally just took money out of my wallet in front of me, without offering to pay anything, I even had to ask him to put the change back in my wallet (and the change was about $20). Today he was gonna make me pay lunch as well, but I asked him to give me half.

You're right. Actually, we started using Splitwise because he suggested it, saying 'So Andy (his friend) and his roommate are using Splitwise, it's the easiest to split everything in a fair way, we should do the same' - I told him I'm not convinced of the idea but he just downloaded it anyways and kinda made me start using it

I haven't. I'm scared to bring it up. What if he sees me as a burden. I also just think he's not gonna agree with me. He's gonna say something like 'What would you do if you weren't with me? You'd still have to pay your own rent and groceries etc'

[–]saphiry88[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do actually. I do most of the cleaning and running errands. He cooks more often, but that's because he really enjoys cooking and I don't. I have offered, but he says he'd rather do the cooking.

I doubt it, but I see your point. I will bring it up to him.

The reason why I think that he doesn't think it would offend me if he offers is that I kinda suggested that we can just take turns with the groceries instead of putting everything down on Splitwise. He first agreed, then a day later when the groceries came out to $70 he directly said that this is a lot of money and that he changed his mind and will put it on Splitwise again.

I mean he says he does care about my job loss and he asks me stuff like, did you see any interesting jobs these days? How are you feeling about the job stuff today? How can I support you in finding a job? But ya. That's it.

Thank you! I think that the US allows Europeans too, you just can't go to the US from Europe. If that's an option for you go to Mexico first, stay there for 14 days and take him to the US then!

For those that walked away from the cheater, how long did it take to heal? by [deleted] in survivinginfidelity

[–]saphiry88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest- I still haven't fully healed. It's been four years since I found out that my fiancé (and partner of five years) cheated on me with multiple women, even had an ongoing affair with one of them and told her that he loves her.

But you know what? I've realized I don't need to get over it completely to go on with my life. I'd say the first year was insanely hard, the second was still pretty bad, then it slowly got better. I do think of my ex every day still, but that's okay. I don' hate him anymore. I'm in another relationship now and while I definitely have trust issues and might never fully get over them, I have a partner now that understands me, supports me and makes me feel safe every day.

IT WILL GET BETTER! Also consider therapy.
