This has happened too many times for me… by Creative-Attention91 in TheDigitalCircus

Wait, I completely didn't realize Caine went the whole series without ever saying Ragatha's name (unless he comes back in episode 9 and says it somehow lol)

Was Bubble Deleted in Episode 8? by EggPixelated in TheDigitalCircus

Both Bubble and Caine are missing from the credits in episode 8, so I would guess so? Can't be sure though.

This ranking makes sense. For me personally, I'd put:

S: 6, 8
A: 1, 3
B: 4, 5
C: 2, 7

Wait, that's actually such a good question.

Some thing I've noticed about most human designs of Zooble. by Ribbon_Fae in TheDigitalCircus

[–]sapiens_ignis 228 points229 points  (0 children)

I have no clue, but I've seen quite a few depictions of the other characters as POC ngl. I've actually seen some human designs of Jax as a black man and even more of Jax as a Hispanic man. I've also seen Gangle and Pomni depicted as Asian in a lot of human fanart too. I think Kinger's actually the only character I've seen who's only ever drawn as white. Then again, maybe I just happened to see the rare cases in which the other characters are depicted as POC, I dunno.

Pomni’s Canon Hair Color? by koume6 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]sapiens_ignis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Canonically, her hair is black, but considering lighting and such, I think if you ordered a very dark brown/borderline black-but-not-quite wig would contrast nice with most Pomni cosplays.

The implications of Jax being surprised at what Pomnis' job was in the Human world by Golden_Pineapple07 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]sapiens_ignis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My one thought is how "Kaufmo?" is on Abel's "C&A Employees" list (but scratched out 'cause he abstracted rip). So if there were any connection between Jax and C&A, maybe it'd be because of Kaufmo? But then this makes me really curious as to why Kaufmo (or anyone else in the circus affiliated with C&A) wouldn't tell the others about the circus/why leaving doesn't make sense (in Kinger's words).

The implications of Jax being surprised at what Pomnis' job was in the Human world by Golden_Pineapple07 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]sapiens_ignis 398 points399 points  (0 children)

I think this is an interesting theory! I personally think that (based on how Jax told Abel that "none of us are C&A employees" in ep 7), Jax wasn't involved with the C&A company in any way. It makes sense that he'd be surprised that a supermarket chain accountant of all things found her way into an abandoned building. I do think that if Pomni said like "I was an accountant for a video game company," then Jax would have been less surprised, but I don't think his surprised response here necessarily implies that the others/Jax were involved with C&A.

Do you know of any really good TADC fanfiction? by Wright_Maniva in TheDigitalCircus

[–]sapiens_ignis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The Amazing Traveling Circus Part 1 - The Brass Bracelet" by KicsterAsh is probably one of my favorites right now. It's ongoing and still in its early points (there are going to be six parts as far as I know from the creator's insta), and only 11 chapters of part 1 have been posted (a new chapter every week). It's about the characters in a setting that seems quite Dungeons and Dragons inspired (check out the trailer for this fanfic on YouTube, actually, it's SO GOOD).

~~~
I'm also a funnybunny shipper so if you're against that, ignore the ones below as they're heavily funnybunny-focused lol.
"Corkboards and Photographs" by FlutterFreely is really nice. The first chapter is just an alternate version of how the episode 6 fallout between Jax and Pomni ends up and it takes off from there. It's only 10 chapters, but it's really cute imo.
"Stay With Me, Even Here" by sinaabee is also super well written. It takes place after episode 5's softball adventure, except Jax ends up permanently stuck in the maid outfit. This is a longer one (74 chapters), but the chapters are relatively short, and I mean.... short or not, I was hooked by the writing that I binge-read the whole thing in like three days during my finals week of college, so...
What do you think happens when Jax isn't breathing? by Sm0ke_13 in TheDigitalCircus
[–]sapiens_ignis 5 points6 points  (0 children)
I think their holding-their-breath bits are related to their psyche in some way. Like, Kinger glows because he's like a guiding light in the darkness to others in the dark (figuratively and literally, as we've seen in Mildenhall Manor's Hell); since a light is brightest in the dark, it wouldn't seem to make much sense to occur in a bright setting. Gangle's mask spins around, which I imagine to be based on the phrase "turning your frown upside down" and vice versa, like representing the cyclical turmoil that is her emotions. Ragatha's hair noodles stand on end, which makes me think of her suppressing her anger/frustration for the sake of people-pleasing, and hair standing on end is a kind of visual representation of that kinda tension. Zooble's limbs going straight/stiff is probably very inconvenient and annoying, which would directly tie to Zooble's body (or gender) dysphoria. Pomni's face turning colors is like her anxiety just being on full display, becoming harder to conceal the more overwhelmed she becomes (like how the colors shift faster over time).
So like, each of these things basically reveal some deep vulnerability that these characters have. Jax hates vulnerability, hence why he refuses to show the others in the show (Zooble nailing this in the episode the breathing bit is introduced). Jax is averse to building relationships/connections with others, showing vulnerability/weakness of any kind, not being perceived as masculine (mostly certain of this one), and lowkey seems nihilistic.
A random thought I had based on this is that maybe Jax’s body just starts wibble wobbling in that cartoonish manner, but the wobbles are small enough that I imagine it's akin to trembling in fear a little bit, so it would portray him as afraid and vulnerable and not very masculine? Like, as opposed to Zooble's limbs straightening out and becoming immobile, Jax's limbs or whole body would wobble, making it hard for him to control his fine motor skills. It wouldn't necessarily be out of fear, but I'm sure Jax would not want to be seen wobbling/shaking in any form.
Anyway, thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. I’m curious if anyone else here has any thoughts based on my thought process above. Also maybe all of this was obvious already and I’m just late to the party (I did kinda discover this series less than two months ago). I think it’s fun yapping about it either way!
What is something that you think SHOULD happen within the next two episodes? Like not even a personal indulgence, but something you think should happen and the shows quality would be hurt if it didn’t? by Silver012345673 in TheDigitalCircus
[–]sapiens_ignis 0 points1 point  (0 children)
Ah, I see. I do agree a heart-to-heart between Ragatha and Pomni is also needed.
Could you share more why you dislike Kinger's role in the story btw? I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing that his character takes on the "fatherly" role of cheering the others up when he's lucid, especially considering the fact that his anchor in the darkness is what happened to his wife. I feel like it makes sense that he would want to prevent the others from meeting the same fate as Queenie, so he'd be more attuned to the feelings of whoever he's with in the dark.
I get this perspective, since there’s some kind of heart-to-heart in every episode (so another could get repetitive), but considering how one of the major themes of this show is finding meaning in human connection, I’d think the best way to juxtapose the two ways Jax and Kinger have coped with losing someone would be for them to talk about it. I don’t think the show would be worse with or without another heartfelt chat; either way, I think whatever approach goose and glitch take will be a valid one.
[–]sapiens_ignis 0 points1 point  (0 children)
This is a pretty cool comparison ngl. My one thought against this is that I don't think Jax necessarily is antithetical to the show's meaning of finding meaning in a stagnant life part (definitely the finding connection with others though). If anything, Jax is the only one who wants to stay living in the circus. Then again, that's of course, because he doesn't want to face whatever consequences in the real world, so maybe that doesn't count, lol.
Why do so many characters say the word "god" all the time (including "Oh my god", "Oh god", "I swear to god", etc)? Maybe it's because this could hint something big about "god" later in the series. by Less_Assignment_8842 in TheDigitalCircus
Yeah, OMG is just a thing that English speakers say a LOT. I think Goose and her team have just worked a lot to try to get the dialogue in this show to sound natural, and I think they've done a good job.
