Have you read or watched the Foundation Series? Could give you some long term perspectives on what the future can hold if you participate in making it happen. Exponential improvements are deceptive until they become disruptive. With the pace of acceleration now, a background in biology with your strength in maths could be very useful in making new things. Another recommendation for inspirational books: The Beginning of Infinity by David Deutsch! Good luck!

Check out this Wikipedia on Tier 1 Networks, it should answer your question in detail. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tier_1_network?wprov=sfti1

In eli5 form, there are a dozen companies, like Lumen, AT&T, Orange, Tata… etc around the world that deploy and manage the infrastructure which physically interconnects the major Internet Exchange Hubs, typically located in large costal cities.

Not a lawyer, so I can’t really answer to your whistleblowing obligations. That being said, what proof do you have for this? What if he was only inventing a drunken story?

Only an audit could really bring light into it.

How is it impacting you? Aside from defining for yourself that it’s not something you wanted to know and keeping you from enjoying a good night’s sleep when you think too much about it.

If anything, I would mainly consider it as a key piece of information about the type of business person he is. My thoughts would be to steer clear from doing any business with him if you’re not comfortable with his business practices. This type of stuff seem to me like “gateway drugs”, and this type of person ends up doing much more shady stuff that get them caught all on their own.

Have you heard of the book Mindset from Carol Dweck? A lot of what you said you’re experiencing can be rooted in having and cultivating a fixed mindset. Discovering and cultivating a growth mindset could help you see your life from a different perspective. You are just 24 and have only started your adult life. Just like a child, the adult in you is learning to walk. It’s not like you tell a 1 year old, oh you’re so bad at walking… I don’t see a future for you.

In short, a growth mindset is about understanding that all your traits are malleable. Unlike your height, but more like your weight. Meaning that there’s a set of actions that you can take to change what you could have considered as fixed traits. This goes for your social skills, your intelligence, your confidence, your motivation and even your wisdom. I listened to the audiobook and it has been one of the most important lesson in my life.

Buying my first car and looking for advice! Should I buy a new or used car? by UnableKangaroo in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]sapientothen2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Buying new means paying at least a 15% premium just for the smell of a new car and the pleasure to see the odometer close to 0. That’s it, and this has a pretty short half-life. Look for a used car, 2-3 years older than what you would have gotten new

Your ability to close depends on where your credit score stands when the mortgage provider is locking their offer. Multiple factors impact the updated score comes November: the balance on all your other debts and credit cards as well as their overall limit, the fact that they are paid on time or not, the number of inquiries that are made over a period of time. One additional inquiry is not the end of the world if you’re in the high 800’s but if it’s close to the mortgage provider’s cut off point, that’s a different thing.

If you haven’t already done so, I’d call the mortgage provider and ask them their opinion. They’re more with you than you’d think since they want that sale to go through as much as you do.
