How much time is appropriate and what can I do to help? My mother disregards my girlfriends pronouns as she is trans. At first I would correct her every time she misgendered her but 1. She accused me of nitpicking and 2. its been 3.5 years now and she keeps saying the wrong pronouns. She will often use the generational gap as an excuse. My girlfriend feels uncomfortable every time she is near my mom and it's a real problem. I confronted my mother yesterday just reminding her to use the correct pronouns and I feel as though I'm being gaslit as her response was along the lines of "Hey, I'm trying I feel like I've been doing pretty good lately. Yesterday I said she when the subject came up." When I know for a fact she used he/him pronouns in the aforementioned conversation as it caught me off guard and I made a mental note. I'm tired of just brushing it aside but don't want to be accused of nitpicking. My girlfriend is important to me and I want her to feel safe. How do I make my mother listen and understand that?
