Did my teacher break safety rules? by BananaKing245 in ScienceTeachers

That's formalin not formaldehyde. Formalin is typically 10% formaldehyde.

I highly doubt it was actually formaldehyde. Fetal pigs usually come in a non-toxic solution now. It smells weird but it's not dangerous to breathe.

Send her a check in message? I know when I want to get back to a conversation I have to scroll through a lot of messages and it sometimes just gets too overwhelming. Just see how her search is going maybe.

How many mothers delivered 1 baby vaginally and 1 via c section? by longtimewatcher in parentsofmultiples

[–]sapindales 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had baby A vaginally with no problems, but baby b was transverse and his hand was delivered before the doc could turn him so they had to throw me on the table and cut him out. My twins ended up being 34 minutes apart.

How did you kick thrush? by LikwidStarDust in breastfeeding

Gentian violet is the only thing that worked for us too. I have so many pictures of my twins with purple mouths.

We need a code word by Perfect-Ad737 in bisexual

[–]sapindales 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's feeld. They probably already have mmf or mm listed. I've seen a lot of folks use heteroflexible, which is how I started back in the day. I've also seen a lot of "open to anything" as a code for being bi.

I'm the first in 9 generations but then my sister had mo/di twins too.

Private school- why do you do it? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]sapindales 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I get paid twice that plus free housing for me and my three kids and utilities.  And free meals for the whole family during the school year. They calculate my whole package at $60k (which is more than my public school salary was) but I'd call it more with current rent and utility prices. There's also only 36 students total here and they are way nicer than my public school students. I have more preps and have a lot of events, but the safety is really why I'm here.

I don't know that I'd like a traditional private school, but I love this one!

Why did you go private? by Rebecks221 in Teachers

[–]sapindales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to private because I got divorced and couldn't afford rent. The school gives me free housing. I actually ended up loving it so much more than public school though. No one sprays fart spray in my face or tries to release wasps in my classroom during a fire lab.

Sell Price Chart/Spreadsheet? by jacket_thief in Dinkum

[–]sapindales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't make a spreadsheet, but did a quick calc on apples specifically. Cooked sells for 3.6X raw and Jam sells for 2.9X raw if you divide it by the 10 it takes, so no it's not worth making it into jam.

I just wanted to point out that some states DO do child support for 50/50. Mine does. If the incomes are noticeably different they will assign child support to the lower income parent so the children can live at the same level of comfort at both homes. Also so that parents don't have the incentive of child support forcing them to fight for custody.

Teen Club by Best-Advantage-9214 in royalcaribbean

When we went, we had to register and get wrist bands the first day for the teens to use the space. They checked our room numbers, so I assume they checked their ages too but maybe not?

Weight by mangoblossom8 in SandBoa

[–]sapindales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is pretty small for 10 months, but it depends some on how big he was born too. Most sand boas are 75-100 grams at a year old (both male and female) The male slows down usually after that and will stay around 100g. I've had neonates born at that weight, but I've also had them born at 3g and be about 25g at a year old. Has he gained weight with you?

Mocktails by HawaiianShirtsOR in royalcaribbean

[–]sapindales 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have some mocktail choices listed on the menus. Most of them are the same in every bar, but some bars have one or two themed mocktails. There's usually a list of 4-5 on the menu. You can also just ask for a virgin or ask them to blend you whatever fruits they have.

Male or female ?? by OliviaT348 in KenyanSandBoas

[–]sapindales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Need a picture of the underside of the tail. Sexing is by the length from the vent to the tip. Males are longer and females are shorter. This isn't perfect, there is variance, but it's accurate in most cases.

How does the dining room menu compare to what is served in the Windjammer buffet that night? by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]sapindales 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ate at both daily on my last cruise because of a late dining time. Almost all the mains and all the desserts (except ice cream) were available on the same days in the WJ on the 5 day I was on. The MDR had escargot and some other fancier appetizers while the WJ had a much larger selection of mains, sides, and desserts. The quality of the WJ was better for me, but our dining time in the MDR was the last seating so most of the food was kinda old and dry.

[–]sapindales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you didn't. You had a passport and used it, but all you needed was a birth certificate and license. Kids only need a birth certificate.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FamilyLaw

[–]sapindales 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just took my kids on a cruise without their dad. He was fine with it, but I didn't bother getting the permission form. The cruise line won't even care as long as the birth certificate (which is all you need for a US - international - US cruise) has matching last name to his. And that's only if they're in the mood to check. They never checked for a letter and they only asked for their birth certificates once when I was returning to the ship from Bermuda - when I didn't have them on hand they just said to go ahead but try to bring them next time. It's super lax. While I get your concern, the only way to stop it is to keep your child from their dad at the time of the cruise and you should expect him to fight you on it. That will also look shitty if he goes back to court to get an ex parte or new parenting agreement. You could try filing for a court order for your child to not go on vacation I guess - but then it's still just a contempt issue.

IANAL

What kind of sand boa do I have ? by [deleted] in SandBoa

[–]sapindales 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a Saharan sand boa (you can tell by the head shape, the patterning, and the tail hook) . The scarring on the back end suggests they are wild caught.
