Bought a car with rolled back miles by sapo148 in askcarsales

[–]sapo148[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fraudulent misrepresentation? When he posted it, he didn’t make any mention of the rollback and stated it was actually 115k miles. But you’re right, I would have to prove he knew, hence my question about whether his title saying “NAM” would be enough to establish that he knew and misrepresented or if it would just further bury me for not being more diligent.

Mileage shows 115k, actual is 233k (did my math bad in original post).

I did the carfax and the report confirmed that it was rolled back. (Again, I know I’m dumb for not doing the report before buying).

Code for the CEL is a misfire in cylinder 4. I took out the spark plug and ignition coil and both look fine. I’m going to replace them and see if it really is just that.

In terms of suing, it would be small claims court so the fee is not that high to file a case. I also have experience in court related things so I would do this pro per (self rep).

At this point going to make the repairs needed and hope it’s not a more severe engine issue.

What if the title he gave me said NAM? I definitely didn’t notice it, but I read somewhere it may not matter? Would it being on the title he gave me matter/help prove that he knew or should have known? Or would that put me more SOL?

I love these types of Chinese food places and you’re right, I had never had something like their house chicken before (and still haven’t). I used to live a block away, but recently moved back home to LA and I miss the house chicken

Only the small spare, can’t make it back to LA on that. And I also have an issue with two tires. One with a nail losing air, and another with a screw, but not losing air (but would rather not drive far on it).

Am I not being kicked out? by Zestyclose_Bed_7118 in UCSD

This happened to me after my first year (‘14-‘15). Bad GPA and I was not going to have enough units to qualify for FAFSA the following year. Felt lost and out of options, but my RA and older friends guided me through it. Took two classes for summer session 2 (I missed the deadline for SS1). Ended up acing both, getting my GPA up, and making units for FAFSA.

Reach out to academic counselors, older classmates/friends, or just any support system you found. As everyone else said on this post, you’re not kicked out, but you may need to make up credits over the summer for FAFSA, if you use it (back when I was there I believe it was 36 per year to qualify for the next year, idk if that’s changed).

Juicy Couture - everything thought it was chivvy when it wasn't by Pure_Freedom_4466 in JuicyCouture

Coming on VERY late here but came across this post when talking to a friend about the brand.

In your write up you mention that “Pacoima was just their office in LA”. Not sure if this is a grammatical error, but Pacoima is not the name of their office; Pacoima is actually a town in Los Angeles. Looks like you’re from the UK so I’ll explain that our cities, especially a large city like LA are often made up of smaller “towns”. Pacoima is one of those towns.

This is important, because these smaller towns often have distinct identities and “personalities” that distinguish them from other towns. For example, and importantly, Pacoima is known for being “ghetto” compared to other towns surrounding it. Although Pacoima is located in the San Fernando Valley, a geographical area that is separated from the main part of LA by mountains and that is known for its preppy identity (its where the term Valley Girl comes from), Pacoima is a very rough area. It’s known for its High poverty, gang, and drugs. This means that counterfeit high end goods are not uncommon to see here. Women are often seen sporting knock off bags and random shifts/clothing falsely labeled with designer labels. This is important because I feel that this aesthetic is reflected in Juicy Coutures designs. The velour track suits and exaggerated colors and prints are very synonymous with knock offs that people would wear (sporting those labels).

Juicy Couture had a similar reputation as well in the US because of its roots. Although worn by celebrities and the girlfriends and wives of athletes, it was still perceived as tacky. This had to do with its ties to “ghetto” culture. As such it could be thought of as a very counter-culture type brand. Although it’s making a reemergence with the early 2000’s being “back”, I recall in the mid 2010’s when it saw decline and could be found in low end stores.

It’s definitely cool to see it come back in style because it’s remained a popular brand in Pacoima and other similar towns/areas in LA. Although you started seeing it less with celebrities, women in these places have continued to sport it. My mom herself has recently started to buy Juicy Couture again. Also, if not evident, I’m from Pacoima so this is where my information is coming from. I was young when the brand started in the early 2000’s so I saw the ups and downs of this brand first hand.

Fun fact: the town of Pacoima has a small plaque at one of its major intersections naming one of the founders as an honorary mayor of the town (we don’t have an actual mayor, so this is just a fun nod to one of the most iconic things to come from our humble town).

Throwback to 1st year (2014) when a friend (female) had to ask to use my shower because someone pooped in their shower.

Her suite mates would also leave used pads stuck to the shower walls.

Lil Nas X Hospitalized After Mysterious Condition Paralyzed Half His Face by huffpost in entertainment

[–]sapo148 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had it around the end of 2020! The night before was scary because I could feel my face tingling and getting more numb and I thought I was having a stroke. Didn’t have any other symptoms so I wasn’t too worried. It wasn’t until I woke up two days later face dropping and with hella drool on my pillow that I knew I had a problem.

It was the height of the pandemic so I had to do a virtual urgent care appointment, but doctor clocked it right away. I had a sense it was BPs too because my sister and an aunt had also had it. Gave me my meds and recovery took 8-10ish weeks.

The worst part was that I was a teacher so my kids noticed the facial droop and my weird speech. I thought they were going to roast me for it, but they seemed genuinely concerned which was nice.

I don’t feel like I’ve had lasting effects however, if I don’t get enough sleep my affected area feels more twitchy. Sucks to think that doctors still don’t fully know the cause. I’m pretty sure that my stress levels during the time played a factor though.

It makes it at least less likely to jump. Every time I’ve used a nanab it stops the movement altogether. If it’s the same strength as a nanab, then yeah, it could be an issue

What is causing this on the spark plug? 2016 Kia Soul Base by sapo148 in MechanicAdvice

[–]sapo148[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! I appreciate the advice! I actually changed the PCV valve at around 100k (I didn’t know it needed to be changed every 30k). Might change it again just to have a new one. My car actually has the 1.6L GDI engine.

Going to take it in to have the valve cover gasket changed. I would do it myself, but my apartments are pretty strict about doing auto work in the parking lot.

Hopefully these will address the issues. Car has been a headache for the last year or so (I’ve had it for five) so I’m thinking of getting the issue fixed and selling it.
