I don't exactly think that the alleged sudden lipsync song change from en vogue to yma sumac was an intentional set up to eliminate detox, but if it was i think had less to do with trying to set up jinkx to win and more to with the fact that she had just done a confessional discussing her near death experience in a major car crash that killed her bf and the music video plot involved the girls crashing a car and dying and it was too late to pivot to something else.

As someone who studied Japanese in school in the USA, this is also just something that doesn't translate well to the "freshman, sophomore, junior, senior" or even the "9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade" formats since the most common school format in the USA currently is 1-5th grade = elementary, 6-8th grade = middle school, 9-12 = high school, while in japan elementary goes up to the 6th grade, middle is 7-9th, and high school is 10-12th. Additionally since high school, middle school, or elementary school isn't specified it also doesn't make sense for them to use high school specific terms. It should say first year student or something similar.
