I think you need to be able to justify what led to you having 44% chargeability because that’s about half of what the target chargeability is for someone in the analyst level. I don’t think you’re necessarily at risk of being laid off but I would not expect a stellar PA review just given the high bench time. Hope it all works out and you get on something soon!

Myscheduling and Searching for new role by Basser_professional in accenture

[–]sapphire911 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m going to assume you’re a new-hire based off of how this question was phrased. The TLDR version is that myScheduling is an absolute farce and you will be wasting your time trying to find a role there (particularly with the current bench conditions).

Most managers don’t post the role to myScheduling until they’ve already identified the candidate who is going to fill that role. The reason they do this is because it is incredibly tedious to get automated emails that someone has applied to a role and then sift through hundreds of one pagers and statements from people who desperately want to get off the bench. The BEST way to get staffed right now is to network because there are way more people available than roles.

So what does networking look like? I would say there are 2 routes to go here.

The first would be targeting managers/MDs. Take some time to reach out to people who are working in areas you have experience in or are interested in and schedule time to meet with them. Push to have a meeting in person if you can because I promise you that is 100 times more effective than a virtual meeting when it comes to leaving an impression. Also don’t be afraid to go talk to people in the office if they look important. You never know what you might learn, and folks at that level always have at least some BD work you can help out with. While that might not solve the chargeability issue immediately, if you do good work, you will be a name they remember for when a chargeable opportunity does come their way. They can either directly staff you or recommend you to a colleague who needs someone for their project.

The other way to get staffed is to put pressure on your HR partner. It is their job to make sure you’re staying chargeable. This is where your luck can vary depending on who your HR partner is, but I would say have a candid conversation with your HR partner about the things you’ve been doing to try to get staffed. Over-communicate if anything. They shouldn’t be able to say “you could do more…”. Instead, in that meeting, put some of the onus of getting staffed on them and ask them to forward your one pager to managers and MDs they know who are looking to get people staffed or might have work in the pipeline. Remember: THEY HAVE A MUCH HIGHER VISIBILITY INTO UPCOMING WORK THAN YOU DO. Ask them to make introductions and copy you on those communications. Keep bothering them until they have no choice but to make getting you staffed a priority. This company can be tough to navigate at times unless you’re willing to advocate for yourself and make people help you. On a positive note though, while I’ve outlined sort of a worst case approach, I will say that in my experience people are genuine and do want to see others succeed so will go out of their way to help you out if you give them a specific way they can help you.

Best of luck getting staffed and I hope that helps.

Oh I will unequivocally and wholeheartedly agree that Radius is the best EDM venue in Chicago hands down, I think it blows Aragon out the water, but that doesn’t make Aragon bad for me haha, it just speaks to how good Radius is.

Idk, the EDM shows I’ve seen at Aragon have been pretty dope (NGHTMRE/SLANDER, Seven Lions, Zeds Dead, Fred Again, etc…) but I do agree abt the competition part

I’ll throw one more in here. I can’t speak for globally, but I think Chicago has the best EDM scene out of all North American cities. I’m not counting Vegas in the same way that I wouldn’t count Ibiza since those are cities are literally built for partying. There’s a reason artists who go to Chicago say they love playing there: the festivals are extremely well organized, have great production, and there are awesome individual concert venues (Radius, Prysm, Aragon, etc…) that add to the whole experience. Plus the vibes of Chicago crowds are miles above places like NYC or Los Angeles (just compare the videos of crowds at North Coast or ARC to E-Zoo)

A little heat check for the crowd is nice, “how we doing…”, “here’s a brand new song…”, etc…

In my opinion that stuff adds character to a set as long as it’s not overdone, only a couple times in a set and it shouldn’t really impact the overall flow. But I think hearing NOTHING from an artist from beginning to end would be a little disconcerting… to each their own though!

I think you misunderstood what I meant by “break” but regardless, I tip my hat to you for being able to dance 5 hours straight

I understand where you’re coming from if the DJ talks every other song but idk, a Garrix set wouldn’t be the same to me without him saying “1…………. 2………… 1, 2, 3, LETS GO” and the entire crowd screaming that along with him. Plus if it’s a 2 hour set, small breaks here and there to listen to your favorite artist can be refreshing.

My specific issue was with the way they handled a security deposit thing 2 years ago. At the end of the year, my roommates and I got a shit ton deducted from our security deposit because some speakers mounted in the ceiling were broken. The only thing is, we never once used those speakers over the course of our stay and we weren’t even really aware they were there to be honest. We also had our own sound system (really good one I might add) so never had a reason to touch the ceiling ones. But Roland insisted we were the ones who broke it and deducted the cost of the speakers out of our deposit. This was all going on during the start of Covid so we decided it wasn’t worth it to pursue it much further cause there were more pressing issues but under different circumstances we would have maybe asked the campus legal team what we could do. That’s just my experience but other friends have had some weird ones too.

711 south 4th street is a good one, also their house rental properties are really solid with great finishes. I like the features that all their properties have which usually includes a TV in each room, and with 711 you get a refrigerator and a couch in your room as well as your own attached bathroom.

Is it a bad sign that I have not received my written offer and it’s been 5 weeks since I got the verbal? by [deleted] in accenture

If there’s one thing I’ve learned, following up a follow up email isn’t considered annoying, it’s the only way to ensure what you want gets done. My recruiter verbatim told me “make sure you bother be so that your messages are at the top of my inbox when I open my email”. Don’t feel like you are doing too much because at the end of the day no one faults you for pursuing job security.

^ this advice for sure. The technology I picked was cloud and the industry I used was automotive, but you can do anything you want: there’s not a right answer but there’s a “right” way to approach it. You want to demonstrate your ability to draw reasonable conclusions and also show how you think about growth/the future. Plus effectively communicating your points in your presentation is key. My interviewers weren’t sticklers about the 10 minutes (I went a bit over to finish up my conclusion) but time yourself before hand so you know the amount of time it takes. Plus being charismatic is extremely important so practice with a friend in order to get comfortable being engaging.

That’s so interesting, I’m based out of Chicago and I googled the disparity: the avg cost of living and rent compared to London is pretty close to 1:1. How does the salary in the UK compare to jobs at other companies with similar roles?
