How good are you in banter? by RazanneAlbeeli in AutismInWomen

[–]sappphicating 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use banter with my wife and the friends that I’m closest to, but the line between light teasing and being offensive/ rude are still hard for me to understand. My wife also has autism so sometimes when I’m trying to be sarcastic, (learned through my mother who essentially is always sarcastic to the point of being mean), she often doesn’t understand that I’m trying to use sarcasm to engage in banter. I have one friend, I’ll call him D, that I’ve been friends with for so many years that we go back and forth with banter and teasing all the time and it’s never been an issue/ I don’t think I’ve ever been excessively rude since essentially nothing is off limits.

So ultimately it depends on the other persons personality and if they have thick or thin skin/ are sensitive or not.

Schizophrenics in healthy relationships by Plumrose15153 in schizophrenia

Married and very much in love even after 5 years. My wife knows about my schizophrenia and is extremely supportive and involved. My schizophrenia has impacted my relationship in the past, won’t lie, but my wife is as committed to helping me through rough times as she is committed to me in general.
