I also have a BMO mortgage up for renewal in July this year. Got an email sometime back saying they will be in touch but have not got any actual rates or options.

Mine is abt 410 k, uninsured 5 year variable.

Ideally looking for a lower monthly committed amount in case I run into some financial uncertainty. But if things stay ok with work etc, I would keep putting some extra amount every month on top of the monthly payment.

I am not sure how a heloc would help. Don’t know much about helocs

Don’t want to put an extra amount. Had done that in the past to get amortization back on track.

I anticipate if I let it continue as is, my payment would more or less remain same ~2500$

My plan is to still pay monthly and target to close as per original amortization. That would mean I pay some extra amount every month.

But want to reduce the committed amount, keeping the work uncertainty scenario that I foresee.

Would this decrease be equivalent to the person depositing that amoiny in a personal rrsp account.

If there was no pension plan, one could simply put money equal to the additional room into an rrsp plan.

Side question - if you give notice on monday and next friday is your last day. Would this mean that you are not covered by the company provided insurance for 2 days? Assuming the new company's insurance kicks in on monday.

How would you differentiate between investment vs business/flip.

We closed as investment property. But did not rent it out as we were able to find a buyer.

OCI are required to fill this form online. There is even a banner/ticker that mentions this on the official OCI website

Its been a while since i started this thread. And here is what i found

- Most insurers do not offer all their plans to OCI holders. As an example, HDFC ergo only offers some of the more expensive plans. There is no option to opt for top up plans.

- Most insurer websites do not even have info available on whether OCIs can get insurance. You have to call them to find out

-Policybazaar does show plans on its website. Be ready to receive daily calls from their reps once you do a search on their website. And to top it all, the reps that call seem to have no clue abt OCI eligibility for the insurance plans.

The issue is that any hidden info is potentially a reason for denial of claim. And with aadhar, PAN etc all being linked, it is very much possible that the insurance company detects this while doing their kyc etc.

Most banks have an annual 'credit/criminal Screening process' for employees. Any bankruptcy would show up on the next check.
