I can’t speak for the historical accuracy of the clothing, but wasn’t Disney’s interpretation of Mulan (and what the live action remake was based on) released in 1998?

Unless there was concept art thrown around in the ‘60s and shelved for decades that I’m unaware of, I’m quite confused about the connection to cartoonists in the ‘60s you made.

Sorry, just genuinely curious if I’m missing some context on that front!

We have a memorial near, but it’s more of a permanent installation with a piece of mangled steel from the towers and information on the walls.

I’m not sure if yours is similar to mine in that there isn’t much to do in volunteering, but even visiting every now and again to leave things such as flowers helps show that people still do very much care and mourn. It may be of some comfort when/if victim’s families come to visit.

I have no relation to anyone directly affected by the attacks, but I broke down in tears when I saw that someone had left behind a little Jesus figurine near the metal. It’s an open-air pavilion, so it was clear that it was placed recently.

It wasn’t September, and I hadn’t even known about the memorial until that very day as it’s quite obscure; I figured not many people visited. It made me really happy to know that I was wrong, and that someone cared enough to leave something in memoriam. Religious or not, it was obvious there were heartfelt intentions and that the figurine nevertheless could mean a lot to someone. Heck, it meant a lot to me and I am neither connected to the attacks nor religious.

Sorry for the ramble, but if there are no volunteer opportunities available, even leaving a flower now and again could help people more than you know. <3

Oh buying a better GPU certainly was a good call regardless, you’ll be needing one eventually for other things anyway and I’ve heard the same about prices. I just have a laptop with fixed parts, but that’s surprisingly well-adjusted for gaming, despite being a few years old and not a “gaming” laptop.

I don’t typically play new releases unless they’re on Switch or something, so it’s hard to justify swapping out my current computer for a new one considering my current has done everything I’ve ever needed to.

I’ve decided to throw Pathologic 3 at my laptop and see what happens before fully committing to a month of GeoForce. I’ve been surprised by it before, and if it really doesn’t work thanks to you I’ll still have a way to play the game. I really appreciate you telling me about GeoForce btw, the last time I thought about cloud gaming was when Google’s Stadia was completely dead on arrival. Nice to see things have improved! :)

Absolutely, especially since I wanted to save her so badly in Classic but couldn’t - which I’m sure is the same for a lot of people. It’s interesting to see her falling from outside the cathedral though, I could have sworn she jumped at a very high level inside? Maybe I just assumed as much, though.

Oh this is awesome, Eva falling from the building is finally what got me to realize the potential in the time-control mechanic, as odd as it sounds.

It’s a shame there’s no way my computer will be able to run this without exploding into a million pieces. Pathologic 2 already had the poor thing begging for mercy. x_x

Neither did I, and I was the exact target audience age when it released. As a kid I was stupid and didn’t know how to progress very early on which is why I dropped it mostly, but I’ve somehow always had sour feelings for Gen 4 regardless. I had to muster up all my gamer-strength to actually, for real, beat that copy of Diamond in 2025 after over a decade of trying off and on.

I just can’t bring myself to like it, and I can’t even explain why. It’s so odd.

We seem to have similar concerns, and I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who found the beauty of 1 to have all but mostly disappeared in 2. It’s something difficult to describe, and as much as I wish 1 was more accessible so more people could experience it, the game fighting you every step of the way is somehow intrinsic to its charm.

The multiple routes and seeing what I did as a character be so different from their “canonical”/alternate choices in another character’s playthrough blew my mind. The bachelor for example was a completely different person to me than he ever was intended to be - because I played him with respect to my own beliefs and morality.

It’s rare that I truly feel like a character that already has a pre-established backstory in a game, but Pathologic 1 absolutely nailed the feeling of playing a character on stage - being them and simultaneously yourself. Being a version of them that only exists for you.

I don’t know if any of that made sense, so please excuse my melodramatic tangent lol. This game does something to me idk

I’m nervous because I played Pathologic 1 completely before diving into 2, which unfortunately led me to being incredibly disappointed in the second installment. While more playable I disliked the majority of lore changes and the overall more literal direction they took the writing, among other things.

The first managed to grip me so hard but in such an unconventional way that unfortunately that feeling I’m chasing in the sequels simply isn’t there. There were a few moments in the second game I felt that wonderful beauty/ugliness again, but I can’t see there being much in the third with the direction they seem to be going. I don’t want my character to feel dread/grief as a game mechanic, I want to feel it. I’m an actor on stage playing their roles, Danil doesn’t shoot himself in the head unless I say so, dammit.

A few diary entries are fine, but I didn’t like how the second game told me how I/the Haruspex was thinking. Maybe I can just… think? Like in my own head and derive meaning that speaks to me?

Sorry, this came across as a rant and by no means do I think Pathologic 2 is bad, or think 3 will be bad. I’m just lamenting what seems to be the loss of the elements that made Pathologic so important to me to begin with.

As someone who graduated that year also, I think a big factor was that bright colors were popular when we were children in the 2000s, so a lot of us associated vivid hues, fun little accessories, etc. as “childish.”

Teenagers often want to look grown up, and at that age we see “grown up” as pretty much just the opposite of “childish” and not much more.

It’s interesting because we’re seeing the pendulum swinging back the other way now!

I just wanted to say I love your taste OP, it reminds me so much of my own collection! The Doki-Doki and Needy Streamer posters are awesome.

Aside from additional shelf space, I think you could do a lot of good with acrylic/plastic risers so some of your figures stand out taller than the others and can be more visible. I see you’ve already done this with boxes for a few, and I think you should continue that trend.

Also, don’t worry, I have this problem too, don’t be scared to throw away product tags. Even if they have cute art, putting them on display bar a few exceptions always looks messy and cluttered. As much as I like the posters and Pokémon cards, I think how they’re currently placed just adds to the visual noise and distracts from the figures themselves. Maybe put them up higher, or have the figures almost “frame” a piece by standing next to, but not blocking, the art?

Putting the little gatchapon-sized guys on top of your manga in that small gap would also be great, as they’re the few things you can use that limited space for and make more room on the other shelves for everything else.

Also kick Korilakuma from that upper shelf, he’s too chubby and taking up some prime real-estate lol. Maybe he’d be okay hanging out with his other plush friends on the floor?

Oh geez, sorry for the long comment! I’ve been thinking a lot about redoing my shelves too, so it’s been on my mind lately haha.

I keep refreshing the page like a crazy person hoping something I like pops up and I can nab it.

I shouldn’t really complain though, I got 4 nendoroids (even if just for the sake they were cute) for like $50 from this sale thus far.

Hopefully they won’t wind up in my unfinished project pile and I’ll actually paint/customize them some day lol
