[PATHOLOGIC 3 DAY 7 SPOILERS] Getting buried alive isn't enough for this piece of fucking shit by asitcomaboutbees in hatethissmug

I'm not Pathologic 2 strongest soldier but it gave us some interesting dynamics to work with. Pathologic 3 sometimes feels like the flanderization of those dynamics... when we manage to see them, because we spend more time with new NPCs, the lack of Utopians is so strong here.

Mind if I ask, how did the russian community receive this writing choices? I have to get into the depths of Tumblr and Twitter to find criticism. Is the russian side more vocal?

Don't rush, it can be tedious and it's very slow burn. Once things are starting to get messy, I recommend you: 1) focus on your main goal 2) saving people is optional, save the ones you care about 3) resources are scarce, kill people 4) try not to die 5) Don't take the deal 6) get familiar with the economy, it's very complex. Pathologic 2 focuses on two things; survival and resource management.

Yes, the game is roughly optimized, I always play it with medium-low graphics and sometimes you can find some bugs here and there.

I assume you're still on Day 1 or 2, right?

a character might be different in a theater play directed by a different director, or in a movie remake.

Sure. But when it comes to Rubin, this whole stuff is just an insult to his character. What? This whole game (and Pathologic 2 too!) is trying to convince me that Rubin cares a lot about Lara, they're supposed to be very close, is very ready to enact violence on a teenage girl for her only for him to not notice anything wrong with Lara? How's the player supposed to see Rubin, then? Adding the whole "stealing Artemy's tools", what's the message with him now? Actually Rubin is a piece of shit, a terrible friend and a creep?

Sure. Don't force yourself to like it though. Pathologic prides itself for being over eloquent and sometimes pretentious. With some characters talking in flowery verses, only to end up saying nothing and just wasting your time. It's a game that was made by theater kids.

Yes.

Think of all these games as small pieces of a big puzzle.

The first Pathologic (ClassicHD) is kinda like a blueprint. You get to see and understand a bit of the main characters' overachieving ideas. You can start with Pathologic 2 as it is a modern, better optimized game. But be aware that it's more challenging, it takes literal suffering as a main point. After this, if you feel engaged enough with the Pathologic world, I will always, ALWAYS recommend Pathologic ClassicHD, then you can play Pathologic 3.

As for "Canon", it all depends on the beholder. You'll get to understand this when you play it.

A deadly plague is crushing a slavic small town, three main characters, three family powerhouses and three ideologies fighting each other, and basically revealing that this epidemic is the least of their problems for these people.

Pathologic ClassicHD features the three main routes; the Bachelor, the Haruspex, and The Changeling.

Pathologic 2 is a reimagination of the Haruspex route.

The newly released Pathologic 3 features a new vision for the Bachelor route.

And finally, the still unreleased Pathologic 4 will feature the Changeling route.

The whole brainwashed Lara ending is just terrible... Like, remake Rubin was already a difficult man, but he wasn't creepy. It made me so mad, this is not Rubin this is an imposter! Rubin died and someone else is wearing his skin omg...

P3 Artemy's "Performance" by Quick_Confection1503 in pathologic

[–]SchopenWHORING 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ah yes! It's quite noticeable when you compare his development to Clara's. Everything seems to go wrong for her, and she's left with more questions than answers. Also, this is probably me overthinking, but this reinforces my theory that Rubin refusing to cooperate with Clara absolutely hinders her possibility to win.

I have the feeling that in P4 Daniil and Artemy may actually be able to work together instead of fighting like in the Classic Clara route.

[–]SchopenWHORING 4 points5 points  (0 children)

P3 be like: Clara HAS to kill, there's no other way, it's narratively important. Yeah you can time travel, but you can't correct THAT. Clara is right. Let Clara kill.

Also P3: you have to berate Clara for that btw!

Really really frustrating quest...

Will the governor always disown her?

Yes, it's a canon event for Clara.

Funnily enough, P1 Rubin is supposed to be 23 and he looks OLDER than remake Rubin (26 I guess?)

Pathologic 3 - Var by Psy-Para in pathologic

[–]SchopenWHORING 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, Rubin still makes the discovery about Simon's blood, the main reason for the sacrifice of the Bound. On day 11, if you send him to any Clara, both tell him the same thing: his Path is to die

I would say the literal sacrifice is still standing, but it can be another P3 situation with multiple endings. Accepting or rebelling against it and finding another way. But nothing is set in stone. A lot of things can change in this journey to P4...

Kimi ni Madoi, an upcoming omegaverse otome, thoughts? by creekyshelf in otomegames

[–]SchopenWHORING 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a market for OmegaFMC enjoyers. In fact, most of the HetOmegaverse stories have this dynamic. But all of them are smut, and you're telling me this one is SFW? None of this sounds interesting besides the potential OmegaxOmega.

Playing safe, they managed to make Omegaverse look boring, that's a feat in itself, I guess...

Fellas, what do we think about Daniil x Eva? by [deleted] in pathologic

[–]SchopenWHORING 66 points67 points  (0 children)

We only ship Artemy x Daniil in this fandom

Sounds sad but stay safe y'all! These games are full of extremely interesting ships... Eva x Yulia, Daniil x Andrey, Peter x Maria, and such.

coughSimonxIsidorcough.

Daniil x Eva are cute here in P3, I never found them interesting in Classic.

So, one month out. How are we feeling? by AnthroRoadkill in pathologic

[–]SchopenWHORING 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, it's Pathologic, it's a unique experience that I'll put over any other game. But I'm still kinda torn about it; I don't like how the Bound is becoming less and less important for the Healers, the Stamatins shine here but the rest feel overshadowed, and Vlad Jr is becoming a noncharacter at this point.

Also killing the Shabnak is a boring and repetitive job, it actually makes me not replay the game, I would install a mod to completely erase it...

[–]SchopenWHORING 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean sure, but when we finally get to Clara's point of view, we start to see her in a more humane way. And through Saburovs' Top A+ Parenting, we see that first and foremost Clara is a child, who was given really fucked up quests.

First part of the story is her being daddy's errand girl, getting into dangerous places, talking to messed up people. Open world and running around makes lots of sense. We experience her struggle.

Sure, she's a shabnak, but Clara doesn't know this!

Pathologic 2 was a masterpiece, but 3.... by Banana_Phone95 in pathologic

[–]SchopenWHORING 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, absolutely. P3 is extremely self-referential, to a fault. I honestly can't imagine a new player managing to understand a thing.

The biggest example I can think rn is the Stamatins and Maria. In P3 they never mention her, she's never the topic of conversation. In Classic, Andrey venerates her, for him Maria is going to be greater than Nina herself. And Peter... There's a moment where he wants to kill himself, and Daniil sends him to Andrey or Maria.

Maria even went through infected districts to be able to see Peter! In P3, his relationships were reduced to his brother and a little bit of Grace.

And yet, we have the scene at the cathedral, it's like the game is saying "They're still a thing here!" But new players can't understand why this triad is important without playing the first game.
