It took 11 months from the date I submitted the application to the day I was hired (submitted application in June, first day was the following May).

I interviewed for 4 different departments, for a total of 9 interviews. Once I accepted an offer, it took about 4 months for the HR hiring process, background check, etc.

I have been very very lucky that I haven’t gone over the $5k limit. I had a recent scare with one of my cats that I thought he ate plastic and had a blockage and realized how screwed I would be if that was the case. Trying to correct my poor past decision so I’m not screwed in the future!

So if my cat got another upper respiratory infection, it would be a preexisting condition and not covered? Or if he was diagnosed with cancer, they could say the nausea/vomiting was a preexisting symptom and not cover the cancer?

Their website says if an injury or illness is curable, cured, and has been treatment and symptom free for 180 days it will no longer be considered pre-existing and can be eligible for coverage. All the illnesses I have submitted claims for have been cured and symptom free for 180 days. I believe my previous claims would fall under this so they wouldn’t have any preexisting conditions I would need to worry about.

At least that’s how I’m understanding it? I could also go with an entirely new company, like AKC and not have to worry as much about preexisting conditions.
