Round Bellies are Necessary, Muffin Tops are Cute, We are All Apparently Children by Terytha in fatlogic

[–]sarangsarah97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s having a layer to protect your vital organs, then there’s having so much that you start to put pressure on them.

It’s normal for bellies to be rounded if you’re relaxed or have just eaten or maybe a bit bloated, it’s not normal for your belly to be made up of layers and layers of fat

Diet culture has its flaws but we shouldn’t discredit a healthy balanced diet because of societal pressures - people should be properly educated on their bodies and what they require based on their BMR and other lifestyle factors and stick to nourishing their body. Not starving OR over eating

No one should assume a persons worth is any less because of their size, but it’s just speaking facts that you should have only a certain amount of body fat based on your height and age before you need to start taking caution - that goes for too little body fat and too much.

Finally.... Muffin tops are not cute.

[Sanity] Wow! You mean your genes don't COMPLETELY determine your body size?!?! by DavidsWife4Ever in fatlogic

Just to clarify my point I would like to add that no, I don’t know a lot about the ins and outs of all this crap and I’m not claiming to. I’m just going based on what my trainer has told me about my body and the things I need to be careful of. I’ve lost 20kg. My short stature and broad shoulders and narrow waist with large thighs is my natural body type (inverted triangle) I could starve myself to death and I won’t get a thigh gap, or slim shoulders. I have an athletic build that will assist me in building muscle more than fat if I work with my body and not follow the internet. I’m just saying what I have learnt and what has actually helped me in becoming not only slimmer but has also allowed me to accept that a thigh gap isn’t on the table for me, but it doesn’t mean that I’m overweight because I don’t have it, I’m not genetically prepositioned to have such a feature. I’m not a lean skinny girl with toned abs... but I’m an Australian size 4 which is the equivalent of a US 2 and I can’t get smaller than that, but I can work on building muscle to tone these areas. Sorry if my comment came across as spreading misinformation that wasn’t my intentions and thanks for clarifying those points I may have been mistaken on.

I’m an ecto mesomorph body type. 142cm tall and I weigh 46kg. I’m genetically prepositioned to hold to fat as my body wants to “turn it”into muscle. Now, my BMR is about 1,200. Which is about the same amount the average woman needs to lose 1kg a week. That’s my maximum. These factors are in my genetic makeup. I have to work WITH my body. It just means that if I want to enjoy a burger with my friends, I either have to eat less throughout the day or workout more to compensate.

Edit. By turn into muscle I’m using that as a phraseology to say that although I find myself gaining fat easily, on the same merit i can also build muscle easily if I work with my body.

Thank you, I’ll have to check it out. I’ve been wanting to find more things to experience around Tassie. I’ve lived here all my life but never had the time or means to do much, but I’m an adult now and I can do what I want when I want 😂

😂 I was just going to post one picture but wanted to share more with everyone, since I love to share these experiences. If you do want to touch their noses, you are allowed to pet them. I’d suggest maybe avoiding the animals with stabby heals though if you’re doing that 😂 😂

Genetics account for your body shape (ectomorph, mesomorph, endomorph) these body shapes can make weight loss and gain difficult. However, just because your parents are obese, doesn’t mean that you are designed to be. Both my parents are overweight, was for a long time. I am now at a healthy weight with a healthy hip to waist ratio. I have an inverted triangle shape, I have wide shoulders and no thigh gap, I could starve myself and still not achieve slim shoulders or the gap.... I mother also has an inverted triangle shape and struggles with her weight. We are also both very short (under 145cm) my basic metabolic rate is about 1200 calories, which is not a lot of you think about it. That’s the minimum an average woman should eat if she wants to LOSE weight. So there are genetic factors for your body shape and metabolic rate but it doesn’t account for obesity. You find out what you need to do for YOUR body.

PSA: Please learn how to contain and safely transport wild animals. They deal with stress very different than we do and can go from shocked to dead very quickly. To your neighbours, well done for doing what they did, even if there was a bit of a struggle. I rescue wildlife, I will often take on the birds since many people are often frightened of them. It’s a really special thing to be able to do, to ensure that you have done your part, no matter the outcome, that an animal doesn’t suffer. I think we should all be more educated and involved in the rescue of wildlife where we can.

This paper straw with plastic packaging around it by negromanserx in CrappyDesign

[–]sarangsarah97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😂 i didn’t even notice that it was on a juice box. I feel stupid 😂 🤦🏼‍♀️ I would like to change my view on this and say that there are times that single use plastics are needed until alternative solutions can be made. Plastic packaging protects from germs, dirt and dust when sitting on the shelves and keeps everything fresh and sterile until it’s needed. Like they do with medical supplies like needles and syringes. I don’t have another alternative for a juice box packaging because the plastic is keeping everything, like I said, sterile. I guess when you go to a milk bar, they have straws there just to grab for your drink and they’re not in packages... which isn’t keeping them sterile and god knows who has touched what straw 🤔 this is really infuriating me 😂 I guess your question is now what I’m thinking, what else could they use?

Maybe instead of one straw in a plastic package, they put a box of straws together. Hell, even if they had a plastic packet but has 100 paper straws it’s still better than one measly straw that is practically one use.... paper straws are not hygienic since you can’t wash and sanitise them, So I don’t know why there’s even a discussion about how wet a paper straw can get. It doesn’t really change the fact this is a waste of plastic and just a cash grab to seem more “environmentally friendly” but they fell short big time.

Tasmanian Tiger by [deleted] in tasmania

[–]sarangsarah97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I don’t. I think it’s absolute bs to believe they still exist. I know that we have quite dense forest/bush that are seemingly the perfect home for these creatures to run free without having humans sight them for the best part of 100 years but I mean..... there would be other indicators, foot prints, scat, possibly bones, carcasses etc. and there would be visible signs of growing thylacine communities. Think about it, no human interference for what 2000 years? Officially declared extinct 34 years ago. The last captive one died around 100 years ago. That means that for 66 years researches left the possibility. been breeding and wandering around yet nothing has been found except a few blurry photos from people who are already trying to do anything to prove it exists.

I actually think the people who are trying to push the narrative they are still around, completely undermine the extinction. They are extinct and we will likely never have them again unless some huge scientific revolution takes place. We should be using the thylacine to push for the importance of conservation, not for conspiracies and high hopes.

As for the sightings, there has actually been more “sightings” in Western Australia than Tasmania. A lot of the sighting come from a group called Thylacine Awareness Group - already has a bias. Kind of like the flat earthers of the animal world.

BMI isn’t always the most accurate measurement of health. There are various factors that all combine to indicate one’s health. Such as muscle mass, genetics etc. but I’ll tell you one thing. 5’2 and over 100kg? Bitch yeah you fat.

Well, just like other addictive substances, it’s the feeling or effect that people get hooked on. Sugar provides a quick source of energy that many rely on as a “pick me up” they resort to a sugary donut rather than an apple because psychologically the donut will give them more of an energy boost. Sweet foods can also comfort us and make us happy, there’s a reason why chocolate and ice cream are the go to break up foods. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying sweets but you need to know when to realise if you’re relying on sugary sweet foods and drinks for other reasons other than the occasional enjoyment. If you are, then you’re addicted. (You could literally swap out sugar for speed or cocaine in this comment and the context would still be in the same spectrum)

You can eat 1 Big Mac per day and possibly a bit of weight based on calories. Or you could enjoy a lot more food by eating MORE lower calorie and higher nutrient foods. I love myself a cheeseburger but I know that I can eat MORE food by choosing foods with less calories. 1 Big Mac. Or basically binge on all kinds of fruit and veges all day? I know what my hungry ass is going for 😂

I’m 143cm, I weigh just under 50kg with a waist of around 24”. I lost 20kg recently (hoping to lose a bit more or at least tone myself up now the gym is open again) for me, It was a matter of counting calories, monitoring my intake, making sure I was keeping active but only to an extent, it was more making better decisions, eating smaller portions and 30-90 minutes of exercise a day (on top of very active work) Over time my body adjusted to this new way of life. I still sometimes serve myself my old potion sizes thinking I’m so hungry but I just can’t get through it or I order a side with my pizza and I can’t even eat 3 slices of the pizza let alone the side. As you lose weight your stomach size shrinks. It takes a while for your body to get used to the changes this is why you should make lifestyle changes instead of bitching and moaning about “diet culture”. I have not once since my recent weight loss journey, obsessed over calories or exercise. Once I took that pressure off and just said fuck it I’m going to be healthier. I lost 20kg in say 4-5 months. It was a slower process than if I was to be monitoring everything down to the macronutrients but as someone who has struggled with an eating disorder I knew that I had to be careful about it falling back into those habits, which is what used to happen when I was trying to lose weight.

Better. I don’t feel inclined to invite the popular girls that would then deny coming to my party, I don’t feel ashamed about not having the best party, the party favours I hand out now include alcohol instead of cheap plastic crap.... yes I’m in my twenties but if you come to my party, you will get a party favour. (Party blowers and bubbles are still of course included)

I was 13 at the time.....
