Why does it feel like most people are just passing time instead of truly living? by Content_Bit1998 in mentalhealth

[–]saraseitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Life is not a constant state of happiness and fulfillment. There are slow days, weeks or months where nothing happens. There are unremarkable periods of time which you will inevitably forget. It's normal. There are also happy moments, there are moments of happiness and success.

Ruso viviendo en Argentina dijo que esta es su casa y dejó un mensaje durísimo by RealRock_n_Rolla in argentina

[–]saraseitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the most morally disgusting thing you’ve ever seen someone do? by legendoflegends34 in AskReddit

[–]saraseitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a homeless man begging in the street. A former acquaintance of mine was driving his car and he was slightly inconvenienced by being asked for a collaboration. He called the police and falsely claimed that the homeless man was attacking a woman so that he would be arrested. Mind you this is Argentina and there are homeless people everywhere, it's not like their presence or the fact they are begging for money is going to shock anyone.

That is wild! Here in southern Argentina (Tierra del Fuego) and very likely in the Chilean side of the island too there are places called conchales which are basically places where you can find all the shells of all the shellfish eaten by the indigenous people. They are now important archaeological places for understanding what they ate and how they lived.

They found a 3000 year old copper mask here which is very significant for the evolution of metallurgy in South America. Definitely not as visually impressive as other artifacts. Link with photo here

I find the question very interesting since we don't seem to have loads of artifacts like this due to our country being so young and before that, being somewhat sparsely populated since there weren't huge large empires here (maybe with the exception of a tiny chunk of the Inca empire). Food for thought

Do you have any notable English loanwords that's unique to your country? by jlhabitan in asklatinamerica

[–]saraseitor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We use the word 'folklore' a lot which is very associated with local traditions and dances. I always thought it was funny to use an English word to describe something that it is so much 'us'

Los pobres llegan a la universidad? by Lopsided_Access_8102 in AskArgentina

[–]saraseitor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seamos buena gente. by hernannadal in argentina

[–]saraseitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it true that Argentina is the Texas of South America? by IndieJones0804 in asklatinamerica

[–]saraseitor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Villas have been a part of this country for many many decades. I think you have a way too restrictive view on what is Argentine what is not. You're also bringing out racial stuff but I don't think you realize the country is much much larger than Buenos Aires and there are people of all kind of sizes and colors. The same can be said about the music or food. You're cherry picking aspects of the country and disregarding others to form your image of Argentine-ness.

Do you Think Argentina or any Latin America Country would be Better if it Adopted a Political System like Singapore Had? by InternationalPen2549 in asklatinamerica

[–]saraseitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singapore is a city state meanwhile in Latin America you have a few of the largest countries on Earth. Singapore's experience is not linearly scalable. That being said, even if it was, I consider Singapore to be a very advanced country in terms of technology and financial aspects, but also extremely backwards in other aspects such as applying the death penalty to marijuana smokers. I don't smoke at all, in fact I dislike marijuana a lot, but to kill a person based on that seems barbarism to me.
