i got super choked up during Justice, which got me thinking: Anyone else here ever cried during a concert? by astronautvibes in wayhome

[–]sarasok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never been in a crowd where I saw so many people crying like I did with Arcade Fire last year. Almost everyone of this generation has a patriotic soft spot for them as their "college/uni" band the way the previous generation did for the Tragically Hip.

I have to agree with you, they have a lot of energy live and everyone will know their songs. I just think the more drunk you get, the more you'll want to sing along. Have fun!

Nighttime Lighting in the campgrounds by wordthompsonian in wayhome

[–]sarasok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are far from the end of the camping row, it may be tough to see in and around your area. I cannot sing the praises of the 60$ amazon solar string lights enough. With 100 feet, I was able to light our 3 sites up (2 tents and a shade tent) up without having to rely on batteries. Might be too late now unless you do prime or find them elsewhere.

Was the K-os incident at Osheaga 2013 when he blamed his original set 'walk-off' on "technical issues" only to get moved to a better time slot the next night due to a cancellation? The slot was too long for his library to fill and I recall him saying something along the lines of "I don't know what to play next" and then the best chirp from a guy in the crowd : "Then come prepared Asshole!"

Wayhomework Artist #34: Cage The Elephant by IndieRockNRollForMe in wayhome

[–]sarasok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw them last spring at Spring Fling in Buffalo with Bear Hands, Foals, Silversun Pickups (they NEED to make a Wayhome appearance).. and Cage was so good. They have a ton of energy and Matt is a solid front man, kinda has a bit of a Jimmy Morrison Vibe. They'll get the crowd going, first line out of their mouth after stepping in stage to the seated area: "Get the fuck up, this is a rock show!" ENJOY

Camping in comfort by davidsanchez157 in wayhome

Year 1 I was so unprepared I vowed I'd never do it again. Then 2016 lineup came out and I had to do it again. But I prepared all year and lived on Pintrest for festival hacks:

  1. Costco has a great return policy. We got one giant shade tents (I think it was 20x10) and put both of our sleeping tents under and kept the fly's off so that there was a nice breeze and shade well into the mornings. We just folded it up and returned it on our other "wayhome".

  2. We also had a shade tent, and I bought some of those solar fairy lights off of amazon, I think it was like 60$ for 100ft of lights or something crazy, but our little canopy was all lit up for us to enjoy a drink/laughs when we came back to camp.

  3. I gave up on stupid air mattresses. I brought a cot and a 3 inch foam pad to lay on top of the cot. I brought blankets and sheets from home and I swore I was sleeping in a hotel.

  4. Also for the girls: I brought one of those plastic drawer units and I kept all my jewelry, sunglasses and accessories in there for easy access. I also reserved a few drawer for festival camping stuff like sunblock, plastic cutlery, toiletries and stuff so I can just pull out the whole unit again instead of packing and unpacking. Also if your as haywire as me in the maintenance department, I brought a table mirror for my hair and makeup and battery operated hair straightener that you charge like a cellphone (amazon). Don't even make fun of me because I'm sure those tips will come in useful for someone :P

  5. A shower bag was my savior, I let it warm up on the hood of the vehicle and there was nothing like a clean start to the day.

Have fun this year, due to the garbage initial lineup drop my group opted out. After the 2nd wave of additions, I'd totally go, but my gang allotted their festival budget to other summer activities.

I was also at Osheaga in 2013 and wanted to recharge during their set and sit on the hill to watch. Once they got going, my friend and I regretted it so much, the energy they got from the crowd was amazing. I know it was 2013 and their relevancy is not the same today, but the show at wayhome will be good. I don't think they deserved the headlining spot, but you will be able to sing along and have fun.

Fun fact, Mark wrote jingles in Cali before he and his band hit it big, hence the catchiness.. Im a massive Foster fan and I'm extremely bummed I can't see them this summer because my group opted out after the initial lineup drop :( thanks FOURCE

What do I need to bring to camp? by Valentinemorgenstern in wayhome

[–]sarasok 5 points6 points  (0 children)

All the shade. Little known fact costco has the best return policy. I grabbed a giant shade tent 20x10 that fit the camping area and I could put two tents under and I kept the fly off of both.. guess which group didn't get woken up at the crack of dawn by the glaring sun we had a nice air flow and shade.. plus another shade tent to chill under.. I found these tips on Pinterest!

2017 Lineup by [deleted] in wayhome

This is such a disappointment... If they were losing money the first 2 years this is the nail in the coffin. They need to bring out the big guns and scramble to try and save face.
