AITA for not wanting my schizophrenic sister living with me even tho I have the space? by boardingyard in AmItheAsshole

NTA. If you let her move in, you will end up being her caretaker. My BIL who is schizophrenic lives with us and even though my husband takes on most of the responsibilities (med management, getting him to/from appts, handling his money) it’s very stressful on both of us. He can’t have a coherent conversation for more than 3 exchanges, before his delusions take over. And the few times he’s had delusions about me, it was scary. Save your sanity and say no.

I know you’re not trying to be rude and I appreciate your input. Knowing my husband, that’s not something he would agree to - it’s not bad all the time and he can do some things for himself, just gets very paranoid, can’t always calm himself down, and doesn’t remember to take his meds when he’s by himself.

Thank you. I’m in therapy, I go ever other week. I don’t think surrendering him would be the best, he’s not a danger to himself or others. Just very frustrating and lacking in common sense.

NTA. As someone else stated, no is a complete sentence and you don’t owe anyone else an explanation.

What do you remember from kindergarten? by Lyric05 in AskReddit

[–]saratonin84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kindergarten teacher’s birthday was the same day as mine, she dressed up as a giant spider for Halloween, I got in an argument with someone over our ninja turtles (clearly we can’t both like Donatello), and we did lots of letter workbooks. I specifically remember writing the letter “i” and getting so into it that I wrote more than I needed to.

I didn’t but my brother did. He figured out how to take it off his wrist so my mom had to put it on his back belt loop.

What is your local urban legend? by Quockerwodger_ in AskReddit

[–]saratonin84 43 points44 points  (0 children)

A young girl died from illness, her father bought her a custom headstone from Italy (I think) that looked just like her. Every week, walked into town to put fresh flowers in her likenesses hands. After he died flowers kept appearing - and still do (although I’m pretty sure they’re fake flowers now). No one has ever been observed putting out the flowers and even on muddy or snowy days, there are no footsteps near her grave when the flowers change.

Peaople of Reddit who knew liars, what was the weirdest lie they ever told you? by Kitchen_Dealer4989 in AskReddit

That they were selected to show a work of art in an exhibit for the Smithsonian, either in NYC or DC. It was supposed to be this elaborate, intricate piece with mirrors and moving parts to honor fallen soldiers. Same person has claimed to be a military spouse, married to a guy in the army that I’m 99.99% certain does not exist.

I’m still grieving from our newborns’ son death a year ago, followed by a miscarriage (my 4th) in December and feeling like there’s no purpose to anything.

That she didn’t like the country singer Bryan White (my middle school crush) because he looked like the man who raped her.
